Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

Nothing like giving me a bit of notice :o. But if you come to my place (west of airport) and drink; you might make it late back to your lodging ;) [presume you're at Novotel) BBG = Bundaberg. What day/time is your return through BNE?

Everything is going to be too tight to have a meet-up. Unfortunately virtually no time in BNE - all up the coast. Back in BNE on Wednesday from MKY and on the 1700 bird home.

That bottle won't last too long UpInTheAir:). Plus you're not in BNE tomorrow night?

JohnM, agree it will be tight both ways. Rain check for mid January (when I'll be over in PER). Maybe I'll bring the bottle and we can decant.

I forgot to add last nights bottles:

I wouldn't be at all concerned about the fill level of the '92. For a 22 year old wine, that is perfectly acceptable.

Halliday rated it a 91 back in 1994 when he wasn't using 120 point scale :) See https://www.cellartracker.com/wine.asp?iWine=454712 also. Not too many notes on it. Probably worth opening sooner rather than later, but another 6-12 months is not likely to make much difference.

Re the alcohol. Alcohol levels have been going up in wine in general for a couple of reasons. I have no idea if '92 was a warm, cold or otherwise year in MR. General global warming has played a part, as has the "Parkerisation" of wines. Ie, making wines in the style Robert Parker Jnr likes. Bigger wines all round.

One of my favorites as well JohnM:

From the look of the 1992's neck, I need to drink it soon - so thank you for making me check my bottles

Your place or mine ?? :D ;)

Understand about Parkerisation. If it had been 13.5%, I wouldn't have remarked on it, but 12.5% seems extraordinarily low for practically any Australian red.

1992 was regarded as a good vintage: https://www.westaustraliawine.com/vintagereports.asp

Moss Wood cab sav 1992: 1992 Moss Wood Cabernet Sauvignon | Moss Wood and easily scroll through the years at that link. Noticeable jump in '95 to level out at the 14-14.5% level.

So tonight I discovered 2 bottles of a wine I thought I had finished some years ago.Thought it was for the sink but surprisingly still good.Just a little past it's prime.

Woah, more photos of the cellar than the house. Have to agree, wouldn't mind sitting on that bench seat and having a bottle.

Wonder whether it's bigger than the one I know up at Kings Beach, Caloundra

Not sure if this was mentioned earlier in the thread, but I was offerred this precocious South Aussie red on an EK KUL-MEL flight a few days ago.

Stokehouse at Southbank (BNE) last night for Mrs TMA birthday. Good food, excellent service and excellent wine list. Bass Phillip 2011 Chardonnay ( very good) and Pinot ( excellent but a bit thin) plus on discussion found out that they have a reserve cellar selection. From that materialised a Bindi Quartz 2007.
