Very nice! I am a massive fan of old champagne. It is such a different beast really.
I was tempted to grab some 2002 Salon, but they are just being silly now with pricing. A huge jump in RRP from the previous release. I've been told from a reliable source that the 2008 Salon will only be released in magnums. Can't see that going for under $2k bottle in Australia.
For tonight, a 2013 disgorged Rockford Black as made its way from the cellar to the fridge.
A few years ago I was in Georgia with my family. As everybody knows they are one of the best wine makers. And I must tell that yes, it's truth, because that was something really really tasty.
I tried it in some cafe which was somewhere in the center of Batumi, and all 5 days every evening we go there to drink that wine.
It was awesome!!!
You must pop in for the next get together of the "Fans of old Champagne".
Can't see myself buying much more Salon at current prices either - and I don't think that there is any more hiding but sometimes I find happy surprises with bottles that have been secreted away from the main storage areas, so there is the slimmest of chances. In the meantime, will have to be content with Delamotte from that stable. I don't have any "old" stocks of that, though.
I think that was the metric equivalent of the old imperial measure. Easier to change labels than dispose of legacy bottles.<snip>
One intriguing feature was that the bottle is marked 738 ml.
I don't think I've ever seen - or noticed - that before.
My 1970 vintage bottle shows as 26 Fl. Oz.I think that was the metric equivalent of the old imperial measure. Easier to change labels than dispose of legacy bottles.
That's what I was trying to think of.My 1970 vintage bottle shows as 26 Fl. Oz.
2008 Noble One - very nice .

I agree. I think the vintage Delamotte is very under-rated.
Veuve Clicquot have recently released the Cave Privee Champagne 1990. Around the $300. This is just the standard vintage release, but held back in their cellars. Unsure if it means more time on lees or not. Suspect not actually.
