I really enjoy Redman. After some recent Shiraz which was corked, I wasn’t expecting too much from this but I think I have timed it to perfection. Not much by way of bouquet and quite dry initially, but then the black currant kicks in and it really lingers for a long time. View attachment 252194
@ $20?
This wasn’t a wine I was familiar with before but I was gifted one last year and very impressed.View attachment 252200
Had this big bad boy yesterday. Perfect for the cold Sydney evening. Terrific red and its a shame Tatiarra sold their vineyard to Mitchelton Toolleen (according to Nicks). This wine is unapologetically big and very much fruit driven yet well balanced and controlled with the most beautiful finish. I have had 2013 2014 and 2015 vintages and splurged on the Caravan of dreams however 2013 was just marginally better and gets better with time.
Somewhere around $65 but not sure now. Tastes like a $90-100 wine.@ $20?

Ok. But buy wine on quality, not on price. You will be rewarded in coming years.I think what @kevviek was referring to was a crazy one off sale at LL earlier this year
1000% rightOk. But buy wine on quality, not on price. You will be rewarded in coming years.
“Don’t put all your eggs in one basket!”I respectfully disagree. Buy wine on quality AND price, you will be rewarded for the rest of life.

(Hi all! and yes, I do feel your disdain )
I would also add a variety as a factor over price.“Don’t put all your eggs in one basket!”
But quality reigns over price.
I'm big of variety, saying that I would of definitely bought 2 cases.I would also add a variety as a factor over price.

When LL had 4 for $40, I grabbed 12 St Hugo's but I grabbed another 2-3 cases of Penfolds Max, Taylor's as everything was $10 down from $30-40.
I cant hate on an amazing deal.

I agree. Until VM came along I would usually limit myself to no more than 2 bottles of anything - for example that Redman I posted earlier was the only one I had. Now I just drink more to ensure I get through a dozen at a time ready for the next onesThis is a major factor many wine buyers/collectors seem to ignore. No matter how good a bargain is there are only so many bottles one can drink and having the same wine over and over again eventually gets boring. So much out there to explore…
Not many, but if I have a friend or 2 over we can polish quite a few during the afternoon.Out of curiosity, how many bottles a week do you drink? Or perhaps I should say open, rather than drink.
