Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

I believe now after perusing that website. I also believe that you are a lot braver than me!

You mean braver in terms of taking a risk with old wine? If so, I suppose there is a risk. I've had good experience with wine through that vendor. Also, if a wine is corked, he'll replace if possible, otherwise with something similar.

Yes, I meant with both being an old wine and cork. To be honest I didn’t know that it could be aged for that long.

Pulled the cork on this thinking it might need a few hours in the decanter. Nose is immediately so pretty so will leave and decant about an hour before dinner. Should go really well with a few truffle dishes.

Well you’re putting our groups Italian dinner reds to shame 🤣

The Chianti went well with minestrone and lasagne. Wasn’t going to buy anything expensive as none of them are quality wine drinkers

We had a bottle of this wonderful Italian wine yesterday in honour of Italy's becoming European Football champions at the Euros 2020.
Farnese Edizione Cinque Autoctoni a central/south Italian blend of Negroamaro, Sangiovese, Malvasia Nera, Montepulciano and Primitivo. With Primitivo being a dominant attacking variety (as I tasted it) with the rest of grapes providing a good structure and poise in defence!
Lots going on there and it is certainly fruit driven, big and posh but well controlled and balanced with the Wow factor.

Obviously drinking well. How much longer do you think it will last? I still have a couple left😁

The one that I had was 2013 despite it is saying 2016 on the gold sticker (I looked at the back label)

I think it doesn’t have a long term cellaring potential. 6-8 years max so you probably have 2-3 years to drink them - but check the vintage year on the back label

Yep a bit bizarre that one, mine are '16s but with 2014 vintage on the back. Sounds like they've probably reached their peak then.

different barrel, even wine in the top layer will be different from the bottom layer of the barrel.
That's why this wine game is so subjective. A critic could conceivably give a wine 97 and a separate bottle from another barrel may get a 93. Interesting if you are paying ninety bucks and you get the underwhelmed. Maybe the wine shows are stacked with companies known better tasters. WELL HELLO.

I believe this Aussie red won best Shiraz in the world at a competition in 2019.

*Spoiler Alert*
This is not the best Shiraz in the world.

Having said that it’s a very good wine and well worth it’s $120 RRP. Gladly I paid less than half for 6-pack back then it was offered on MWG :)

Finally got to crack a bottle to accompany 500gr ribeye for dinner. Took about two hours for the wine to open up and become magnificent!

You didn't get the same sampler as the wine judges I bet. I bought a four pack of these at about $30 late last year and I loved it. Had a couple in a month. Did not disappoint. A wine with good fruit and much finesse.
