My wine list just done plus some Krug for the fireworksView attachment 39968
Nice - but a pity about the missing apostrophe on 'last years...' and the 'asaparagus' spelling mistake.

I was moaning to SWMBO at dinner last night too about similar things. The restaurant print out containing many proper nouns, that weren't actually proper nouns. *Sigh*.
Anyway, their use of the English language was questionable, but this wine was stunning!

And where was one partaking of such scraps?
The Terrace Hotel. That's now two years in a row I've gone there for NYE dinner. $99 for 5 courses with a welcome glass of champagne or $169 with matching wines. Decided to do my own wine matching. After dinner, moved to the bar for a coughtail and just before mid-night, all those at the bar were given another glass of champagne (Pommery).
Just checked out the offering. Looked good - and good value.
I can see why you took the Burgundy. Did they charge you much for that privilege?
Agree. The food alone is/was great value. The two main courses (duck and beef shin) were generous sizes too. Each alone would suffice as a main course.
The wine was $260.
I actually also ordered a glass of the dessert wine that they had matched to the dessert. Was a poor match in my opinion. The wine wasn't sweet enough to cope with the Bombe Alaska. I think a better match would have been a PX or even a youngish VP.

I misunderstood you to mean that you had taken your own bottle of wine, so I was wondering what the corkage fee was.
Is it still a Lamont restaurant? I went there for a wedding in summer a year or so ago and the tables were set up on the back terrace. We were underwhelmed by the food, partly because it was cold by the time it reached the tables. It looked like the staff weren't coping too well, so maybe we just struck a bad night.
I wish
I don't believe The Terrace Hotel was ever a Lamont's restaurant. There is Lamont's Bishops House which is very close by though and I've been to on many an occasion and always found to be excellent, both in terms of food and service. It is actually quite hidden and unless you were specifically looking for it, you probably wouldn't come across it. I have to admit I am a big fan of Bishops House as well as the more casual Lamont's Wine Store in Cottesloe. The first Sunday of the month lunch/dinners on offer at The Wine Store are pretty good fun and excellent value for money.

My neighbour was nice enough to share two magnums of 1990 Chateau Tahbilk Cab Sav tonight. That was so smooth.
Plus he's a pastry chef so we've taken home a slab of scrumptious raspberry sponge cake to eat tomorrow...It was Bl**dy good on the highly scientific JohnM rating scale™
