First dinner at Ying Chow for a while, pretty hard to pick a winner. Volnay's a bit a disappointing. Gimonnet, Rippon and Grenache if i had to pick

Impressive bit of work for 75mins .

The koltz wizard and pagan are the most outstanding wine out of these, both shows great depth,black fruits, raisins, the pagan is a bit more complex and a bigger wine.
Joseph sparkling didn’t disappoint at all, a cab Merlot blend sparkling ,chill at least 30mins before serving, personally I don’t think 30mins is enough.
least favourite are the wynns pair, we had a little tasting on Australian day,the wynns white label Shiraz, sliding cab and a gable cab Shiraz, we all liked these basic wines over the pair of V&A, the V&A just doesn’t taste like a $40 wine, not the quality, not the flavours and definitely not the finish.

It was a great cab. I think it needs more time, only started to develop, but if you like cab. In this stage without been aged too far , this is the time to crack one open.

Thanks. I’ve got them going back to 2008 (although I stopped buying them after 2013 as got too expensive) so will hold on for a while.

Shame on you lot. No posts of drinking all week!

Scored a pair of Riedel superleggero Bordeaux grand cru from Peter's of Kensington for $147 (I know, ridiculous price for wine glasses). We have to Riedel Bordeaux sommeliers but one broke. I didn't want to have to share the other with MrsDaver6 so needed a replacement. The superleggero are also hand made. They're every so slightly taller than the sommeliers but thinner and lighter. Pricing was favourable to here we are.

As for the wine, we tried this at a tasting on Sunday and picked up three bottles. This is the second wine (they actually have two now since 2012) of Pichon-Pongueville Baron. 2011 was not a great vintage but IMHO, this wine is pretty darn good. It's typical left bank Bordeaux and represents value in my opinion. Drinking well now and will hold for another 5 years with ease.

• Tissot '16 Tramminer was good
• Tissot Savignin '17 was not enjoyed by the room but I thought it was good having wrapped my head around the style a bit more
• Not sure if I preferred the '20 Calvert or the '17 Ata Rangi, both were good
• I preferred LW#10 to #11 on day 1, but they became quite similar on day 2.
• '05 auslese very good.
