This effectively means that you can buy 2K QF points for 60 USD, i.e. QF points can be bought for 3c/point.

This is also similar to the rate here:
Frequent Flyer - Using Points - Top-up Points

Correct, which is why I dont transfer points to QFF from PC when I get better value elsewhere, they also take up to a month to transfer.

Of course, getting PB's that match your itinerary is luck. I have used this 5K at CHC once as I needed accommodation there.

Hotel points are a virtual currency and can bring way larger cash value than transferring them into frequent flyer points.

... unless the free room night comes with guaranteed:
  • free breakfast,
  • free internet &
  • free access to executive lounge and
...that free night counts toward re-qualifying with the hotel reward program's elite status

and the free involves travel in the pointy end and counts towards the airline's reward programs elite status . :p

There I was thinking double dipping was good but this is a big step forward on the Hilton South Wharf plan.

Any recommended YASA/JASA runs for a Melbourne based person?

Hi, I am new to the site.
I have used FF points to both upgrade and book flights.
How do you get SC + points when you use J ASA?

Hi Terryi02,

Welcome to AFF.

All Any Seat Award tickets earn FF points and SCs at the same rate as the equivilant tickets paid with $$$. The only real difference is you are paying with points instead of $$$.

And as this thread outlines, the net cost can be minimal. That is, while you might expend, say, 34k points on a JASA (by the way, J means business (you may already know, of course)), you could earn, say, 10k, meaning your net cost is 24k points. And then you still earn SCs on top of it. The trick, of course, is finding them.

Thanks for that.
So it does not apply when you use classic award seats or points upgrade from Y to J

I am a HHonors Diamond member and I get those benefits when staying at HHonors hotels, even HHonors award stays.

Also, award stays with HHonors do count for stay and night status credit, just as revenue stays do.

Possibly the only decent hotel loyalty program that provides that benefit and one of the key reasons it's one of the two chains I focus on.

Possibly the only way to get this thread back on topic is to make a post that brings it back on topic.

Damn, I'm looking forward to my JASA on Sunday

I must admit that when the ASA's became available I had a quick look and decided that they were not worth the huge points requriements.

Then playing late one day (as one does), I noticed I could do Adl-xx_-Hkg Business Super Saver Return for 164,000 - no cash even though most dates/flights were 800,000+

So I arranged to pay all sorts of things using credit card to get a serious points flow. Then when I went looking again and nothing - I though it was an aboration of Qantas or my brain. But now I see them back.

My questions are - does any one have any wisdom as to when these sorts of spectacular deals come up? Does any one have any automatic spotting tools - ie email me when the dates I want are available on a JASA at a certain points level?

I'd like to know this also

I've been hunting around and struggling to find anything decent out of MEL as well. Might have to reposition to CBR....
