One JASA option ex MEL - sample date 18th and 19th June

MEL-SYD-CBR 46k points.
CBR-MEL-HBA 25.5k points
overnight HBA
HBA-SYD-CBR 26.5k points
CBR-SYD-MEL 46k points

Total points 145,000. Less about 10k points earned. Earning 340 SCs.

re: ( Now gone) "how do I book a J any seat award at classic award points level" thread.

This option really allows you to get your money's worth in points!
I booked an ASA in business from Perth/Adelaide/Melbourne/Singapore
for 50k points plus 624 dollars! Great for a status credit run!
240 status credits and over 12k of points because of the Class of travel
and the changes recently to Gold FFStatus.
:)

That doesn't seem like great value compared to some of the other options being thrown around :-( Any other ideas out of MEL? I'd love to do a SC run to take advantage of the Double Status Credits offer (which I was lucky enough to get), but struggling to find decent itineraries out of MEL.

re: ( Now gone) "how do I book a J any seat award at classic award points level" thread.

Personally I find the FASA from MEL to LHR to be the best value... just because of the awesomeness of the A380 F. I know it doesn't yeild too well for SC's but really... not sure much beats it for the experience...

Get across to ADL (not today obviously) and look at doing a run ADL-TSV-DRW-TSV-ADL, 96000 points + $400 and two over nights in TSV nets:

Taking into account the points earned its really 80K + $400 to get 520 SC (plus accom and positioning flights)

Further to my earlier post and in line with the above quote I have recently booked a FASA SIN-LHR-SIN in October!! One leg on the 747 and one on the A380

I managed to get it for the classic award price (252k I think) and a cash payment for the taxes etc which I think was not too bad...although I'm a little scared about flying first. I've never even flown J internationally before

Apologies if you're on my flight and I'm the guy in the front of the plane (Seat 1A thanks!) playing with all the seat controls, using all the amenities, eating every scrap of food and trying EVERY wine/bubbles put in front of me :p

This is what happens when you find ASA at Classic rates...you get to share your premium cabins with me :D

(I promised that I'm a respectful flyer - just self funded so only made Silver for the first time this year!)

Use the double points offer on that and it would get someone most of the way to Platinum in a few days! Thanks for that Markis10!

Thanks for the tip - much appreciated.

I've just booked ADL-TSV-DRW-TSV-ADL for late July on a JASA, with Red e-deals for MEL-ADL and ADL-MEL - almost the perfect itinerary for the number of SCs I need. It did end up costing me 96k + $650 (rather than 96k + $400) though, as I was forced to go TSV-BNE-CBR-ADL instead of TSV-BNE-ADL on the return leg (very limited windows I can do this run on, and this was the cheapest option in one of those windows). 560 SCs this way instead of 520 though.

All up 96k points (minus what I earn on the flight) + ~$850 + 2 nights accom in TSV for 1,160 SCs.

No, TSV-DRW-TSV leg is on a Saturday. Why do you ask?

Thursdays and Sundays the BNE-DRW leg comes with one of these:

Ahh right - yeah I saw mention of that re Thursday flights, wasn't aware it applied to Sunday too. Unfortunately the itinerary I've booked is (literally) the only one I could, taking into account cheap JASA availability and my own schedule - I'll just have to suck it up in regular business class seats ;-)

JASAs only attracted SCs and points in the last year or so!

re: ( Now gone) "how do I book a J any seat award at classic award points level" thread.

I just booked my first JASA the other day after reading through this thread, you just have to be lucky to find one that fits in with your times and hope that the point score is low, they are quite varied depending on which flight you choose. Amazing how some JASA flights for the days I booked varied from 44,000 to 140,000 points depending on time of flight (and I guess how many seats are left on the flight?). Thanks for this great thread!

Markis10, your last post mentioned that SCs and points only became available for JASAs recently - was there any announcement about this or was it just found by default by one or our alert AFF members? Or was it only available with the introduction of ASAs last yeat and I (and many others) didn't read the fine print?

I had previously used Classic Awards to use up my points and was always disappointed that those J bookings never earned SCs & points, I got downgraded from Gold to Silver last year because my J classic award flight PER-BNE-PER didn't collect any SCs for me.....

Anyway, this time have booked JASA PER-MEL-PER for a family birthday in August, just flying over Sat and returning Sun, paid only $200 + points for JASA and should be getting 160SC for it, hoping to get enough SCs to get back to gold this year, JASAs should help achieve that.....

It was announced in December 2009. It came in to force March 23rd 2010.

Any seat awards had been around for some time (2008 from memory)

It was only March last year that the announcement was made that SCs and Points would be included:

thanks for your prompt and informative response, Markis10.
I was not a member of AFF back in March 2010, no wonder I didn't know anything about it. Have to read the thread you linked for me to see all the comments at the time.
What a great site this is!!!

re: ( Now gone) "how do I book a J any seat award at classic award points level" thread.

I did the BNE/DRW/BNE double points status run on QF767 recently was OK, not many in J, had spare seat up and back.
