Oneworld Classic Flight Reward Discussion - The Definitive Thread

Here’s my recent activity… shows one flight as cancelled that has in fact been reticketed following a change. Points not yet taken for it. It also shows a points deduction for a new flight that has still not been ticketed. Go figure.

Well I wil breathe easy if e-ticket arrives so far it hasnt. I need to book hotels and due to short notice dont want to spend $1k extra to make them all refundable because QF might reneg on the flights.

I might phone them again to ask them to ticket my flight, just for giggles.

E-ticket finally received thanks to the lovely Val in Fiji. Now I can sleep.

Seats selected on all routes, happy with everything except QF12 couldnt select in mini cabin but hope that will chnage once my WP kicks in (or at T-80).

On the plus side the delay in ticketing meant I was only charge 1 round of 5k chnage points instead of two.

The points refund is normal. They refund all the previous points and at some future juncture long after ticketing they will deduct the new points.
Mr H could I please I double-check this? I believe you but I have just gone through much the same thing this morning. After about 6 hours of online and call centre failures yesterday I had wonderful help from Milla in Fiji today. Not what I wanted but good enough. Theoretically, a new ticket will be issued. But now, 4 hours later I have noticed that 318,000 points have been deducted from my account OWA (J).
There are two tickets on this booking though, so at least I would have expected 2 lots of 318,000?!? Based on your own example, perhaps go figure is the answer! Or would you consider that another 3 calls to somewhere land needed?!

They are still on CMT & Royal Jordanian.
Thanks!

Check whether you have tix on CMT. If you do, then you are good. Let Qantas worry about deducting the points.

I don’t know what other carriers you have in your itinerary, but keep in mind that it’s not only the flight that changes that’s affected by a delay in re-ticketing; all sectors are in jeopardy.

You may already know this… but just in case you don’t.
Thanks.
Actually this was a separate booking internally in US. I partly did it this was as I didn't want to throw the rest of the trip in jeopardy when AA inevitably changed their schedule. It seems my AA booking was unticketed for over a month after a change by AA.
4 phone calls later and it is fixed.
1. South Africa Thu - would be done within 4 hours, but was not
2. Fiji Fri - hasn't been paid which sounded wrong but I didn't care if I paid US5.60 again - to her credit she called me back at the end of a 12 hour shift saying it was still in the reticketing queue and could be up to another 24 hours
3. Sat - wasn't waiting so called again but was cut off by Fiji agent when on hold after explaining the issue
4. Sat take 2 - Fiji agent got it done. e-ticket numbers on the confirmations he sent (email the PDF itinerary is not working though) and gotta love the RJ website which now shows the e-ticket numbers.

Oh dear - I see no ticket numbers there, or on RJ. The old ones were there this morning when I was on the call but the cupboard is now bare. 🤔.

Then you do not have a ticket. You need to sit on the call centre until it is ticketed. At least you now know how to check to see whether there is a ticket. CMT is the source of truth. I can’t vouch for the RJ website.

All sorted. Ringing on a Saturday night seemed to mean they could contact ticketing faster as things were quieter than otherwise may have happened. Who knows. Anyway - ticketed and in CMT. Thanks for the push, Mr. H

Glad it worked for you. I should take my own advice and ring again to get my week-old EK booking ticketed but I just don't have the strength.

Hi All - a couple of Q's:
1/ In calculating 35,000 miles use the great circle mapper for a OWA is it statute or nautical miles I'm after?
2/ I've used the Oneworld interactive map/planner in the past to discover where I could fly on Oneworld airlines (e.g. trying to find ways to get from JNB to SYD via wherever) but it seems to have gone, and Flight Connections doesn't seem as good. Any alternatives?

So after having to cancel a capped 318k OWA itinerary, I then :
- Rebooked a new itinerary (not a capped OWA but still a 6 leg multi city itinerary)
- Managed to change an economy leg to business thanks to the recent release of more award seats

Overall the points used is >318k due to the change of the above.

I'm now one flight off from a full business itinerary and it should meet the 318k OWA cap (as it's the same itinerary as my originally cancelled one, but just 1 month prior).

I can see a QF flight with business award seating for 2 adults, to replace a JQ economy leg.

I've called twice this morning and had 2 consultants give the same old 'the business award seats you can see and select online are only for new bookings and are unavailable for existing bookings'.

Considering that I can see and book it online separately, I won't benefit from the 318k cap if I book it separately and then ask them to re-ticket my existing booking.

Is there any other way apart from HUACA (which I've done around 25 times this past week), that this can be done?

Quick question, which I know will have been answered above, but not sure where…

Departing SYD on a OWA and returning in to Melbourne. Can I tack on a MEL-SYD a few days later? Or is returning to Australia considered the ‘end’? I suspect I might be allowed to tack it on as the calculate the distance anyway?

You should be able to tack that on. You are not allowed to leave Australia - your country of origin - twice. But I think you can do domestic flights at the end.
