Oneworld Classic Flight Reward Discussion - The Definitive Thread

yes, it is. Technically, EWR is is New Jersey rather than NY. but even if you fly in and out to the same city but different airports, they will still count it as a surface sector.
Thank you. yeah, so that would be my 2nd surface sector and 4th Stopover. so no more surface sector after this. Got it.

Hey guys, I probably know the answer is no but I'll ask anyway.

Once your OWA has started, you're no longer able to make any changes to your yet to be flown sectors, is this correct?

Pretty sure you can also change date of a flight, or even the flight number or OW carrier, as long as it's the same route. In case you see a J on another day.

Once you’ve started flying the OWCA itinerary, you can only make changes to:

(a) change to flight number; and
(b) change to date of travel.

Thanks guys, unfortunately as per above, there's not even any reward seats available for the route I want, even economy.

I may still check 3 days out for any Qatar reward seats if any (probably almost 0% chance but I'll still check regardless).

I'm very keen to change due to the seat map for our BA flight in PE being already almost all pre allocated - we're either going to be stuck in the middle 2 seats in the middle 4 seat section, or sitting apart in aisle seats (on opposite sides of the cabin).

BA is hopeless / ridiculous in wanting to charge AUD$100+ just to allocate seats!

One minor exception is for platinum and above who are not charged.

We had to ring QF to confirm 10 min change to flight departure (BA). Don't have a option to accept in MMB. Hope they don't send it in to the ticketing queue (haven't checked).

For peace of mind, go to Royal Jordanian MMB to check the ticket is still OK.

Is that true that JAL restricts booking Firstclass rewards seats to be booked on OW RTW itinerary? I called Qantas to add an F CR seat from JFK to HND as soon as it became available at midday today and the agent booked it under PE by mistake as the Japan fare class is different (obviously). called again 5 times and finally got through to a knowledgeable consultant who told me that even though I see ticket rewards seat available on the website, JL will restrict me from booking this seat on an existing itinerary where the origin and destination is JFK to HND or LAX to HND. You can book it as an individual leg on the website but not as part of this itinerary. has anyone had that experience or know the way around?

Never paid for seat selection with BA in J as gold either.
And QF silver (OWR) gets free seat selection 7 days prior to departure. I closely monitored my recent TATL flight, 13 empty seats including 4 prime seats were available up to the 7 day window. Later that day looks like a few OWR jumped on, leaving 10 seats open, including 2 prime seats. The cabin went out full, so there was definitely and advantage to the OWR.
