Re: Ooh Tiger, you did it again and are grounded - fly below LSALT (lowest safe altit

May sound strange but I actually think a months suspension makes it more likely that Tiger will fly again,it gives them enough time to get their cough together
and make a good case to CASA for reinstatement of their AOC,the question of course is will SIA be willing to pump enough money in to the operation to fund the changes that need to be made to ensure that Tiger is a safe airline ,if SIA don't put up any more money then I can't see how Tiger can "straighten up and fly right' so that may change my perspective on their future.
Of course the other point is even if they do get their act together will anybody want to fly with them?

They may well decide that it is just too hard and decide to deploy their aircraft elsewhere.

While SIA are only minority shareholder (although a large minority shareholder), I am pretty sure they will be less than amused by the goings on.

Yes you could well be right,if I'm wrong I suspect it will be clear sooner rather than later.
Cheers

If I was SIA right now I'd be putting some serious distance between myself and the Tiger brand full stop...

I don't say this very often. But..

Oh. My. God.

It's a SCAM!!!!!!!!! Christ people - all you who write this dribble about how ""UNSAFE"" Tiger are, I wonder if you've ever flown them more than once to compare? Give me 1 incident?? For God's sake, I can give you more than 10 SERIOUS incidents with Qantas and Jetstar over the last 5 years, since Qantas started outsourcing their maintenance to cheap overseas firms. It's a SCAM people - Qantas' share price has been in decline for years, they can't make money anymore like they used to in "the good old days". So like every other full-service airline, they're struggling terribly now. So they put serious pressure on CASA, who then have to find any reason to inconvenience the smaller players, to get them to look terrible in the eyes of the public, and finish them off in the process. COMPASS 1 & 2, ANSETT, plus others. Ask them all. What - somehow Qantas is the ONLY operation who understands how to run an airline business correctly in this country?? Tiger's owned by Singapore Airlines, who is kicking Qantas' cough in every way in the Asian route sectors. So this is what Qantas does. Complete bullsh*t! Disgraceful. 3rd world behaviour from Qantas, AND CASA. Do you think we're stupid?

*Slowly Takes Deep Breath*

Why on earth would CASA listen to Qantas and ban Tiger, Ansett or Compass? It's just plain stupid. I'm not getting any further into this... Because it makes me realise just how brainwashed the readers of nonews are.

The only other thing I would ad is. No matter what you say about Qantas, there is no doubt, that Qantas pilots are some of the best in the world. Their training and experience is second to none.

*Takes another deep breath, shaking my head as I walk away*

ISTR that CASA went through Qantas maintenance procedures with a pretty fine tooth comb a couple of years back.

Re: Ooh Tiger, you did it again and are grounded - fly below LSALT (lowest safe altit

If they (SIA) have the strategic thinking for their upcoming long haul LCCs, I think they should think quite the opposite.

For example, their new long haul LCC (let's call it SilkAirX) could fly from SIN to a small, regional, international airport in Australia, for example OOL, or CNS, or PER, or DRW. Avoiding major city airports so they can have / negotiate cheaper landing fees / better slots etc... So this can provide them with a better pricing advantage.

and of course who can provide a better connection to SilkAirX's OZ international gateway from AUS major cities ?
or course Tiger...

and remember Tiger so far has no passenger injuries yet, unlike the other airline a few years back from SIN=>PER, if you insist on the statistics...

If I was SIA right now I'd be putting some serious distance between myself and the Tiger brand full stop...

I can't find the news article to read the comment :(

Sorry Tiger is just too unreliable for on time performance to have them feeding passengers onto international flights. 3 days late on domestic is one thing, but you just can't have that happen regularly when connecting to international.

Looks like Tiger won't challenge the ban, they've announced on Twitter that they'll issue refunds for the rest of the month.

I was due to fly them next week so I'm wondering what the deal will be with the special VA/JQ/QF fares.

I think they'll fly again.

Re: Ooh Tiger, you did it again and are grounded - fly below LSALT (lowest safe altit

C.E.O Crawford Rix is stepping down just hours after CASA said it would apply to extend the suspension of the airline!

Oh. My. God.

Yeah, I do think that one was the cream of the crop... I do love how he was thinking TT is safe because they haven't fallen out of the sky whilst he's be on one of their planes, thus for that reason alone they must be a safe airline...

Re: Ooh Tiger, you did it again and are grounded - fly below LSALT (lowest safe altit

Forgot to mention, a friend of mine was on the flight into AVV that flew below LSALT and triggered the grounding.

She's quite enjoying her little piece of aviation history :p

Do you really think it will though?

If it does, will make an interesting discussion re Jetstar and their Melbourne T5 expansion.. Maybe JQ can go to T4 instead?!

Re: Ooh Tiger, you did it again and are grounded - fly below LSALT (lowest safe altit

The comment I liked most from a News reader was:

"I have flown tiger about 15 times and have never experienced a single crash....."

Incidentally an interesting comment from Ben Sandilands was that without an AOC, ie suspended, Tiger should not have been selling fares.

Tiger does seem to have ignored the signals that government authorities were sending them. Starting with CASA, then ACCC, and then state government consumer bodies.

And the SA goverment now reclaiming $2.25 million back from Tiger would only add to its woes.

Who in their right mind would want to take over the company in the state they're in... if the ship is going down why rush to the controls.

Actually that is a really good point. If they have a new CEO, that might be a sign of some changes to come. You wouldn't have a new CEO if you were shutting down the business 30 days from now.

Maybe they are staying around?

Re: Ooh Tiger, you did it again and are grounded - fly below LSALT (lowest safe altit

Tony Davis is taking over as CEO from Crawford Rix. Doubt he will stay in Australia for ever. So they may appoint a new CEO, or he may be now here to close it down.

I didn't realise how many "safe"airlines I have flown with!

No, he is out because he stuffed up, it was CR and his complete incompetence and ignorance that has got Tiger on the ground.

In order for Tiger to move forward, CR had to leave, he is the one person responsible for the AOC after all...

You cant just appoint a new MD at this stage in the game, they need someone experienced to sort out this mess, and he is about the only one left!

Don't forget ASIC wanting to know why Tiger fails to provide it's annual returns.
