Stop mucking around and get to the important issue, will it have a toaster and what size will the pancakes be!

Director of toasting operations at Virgin Australia LiamR has not yet clarified the details of toasting at the new lounge.

Sorrry to burst your bubble, but everyone knows the only true pancake machines exist in QPs.

Virgin Australia, Australia's premium airline, offers pouring cream, stewed apple, maple syrup, strawberry and blueberry jam with their pancakes :p

Well he is toast then , and should not go on holidays when such important issues need to be addressed!

Landed back on the Gold Coast today so I've provided an update. Looks like metal sheeting has been place over gate one and two. If you look at the pics you can see what the layout will look like.

Thanks LiamR, I was getting concerned at the lack of updates and being too lazy to drive down and look for myself ......

The AGM is this week, I'll bring it up. It's my understanding anything smaller than this is known to be a pikelet:

Going by the pictures I can't see there would be too much scope to adjust the roof. Certainly the ducting can easily be relocated but those I beams don't look like they are moving in a hurry. I imagine there will be windows full length on the apron side and overlooking the foodcourt to keep a watchful eye on the "guests" below.

They should be single sided, so the windows appear to be mirrors from the food court - so we can study them....

Interesting to note the slow progress being made so far. I maybe doing a couple of flights later this month to finally push me up to silver, if so will provide the mandatory update but not expecting much to happen over the next few weeks. It will be great to finally have somewhere quiet to relax away from the masses at the food court.

I was talking to a Velocity rep the other day and he was telling me that the lounge should hopefully be ready around March. Is this what everyone else has heard as well?

I believe that is the consensus. At least it seems to be the official line. I spoke to staff at the check-in counter some weeks back and was given the same news.

Media Manager for OOL doesn't have a fixed time for opening as yet, except that it'll be some time in Q1 12".

Virgin seem to be pretty sketchy about this, I'd say it'll pretty much just be open one day. Take MKY recently, none of us knew about it then all of a sudden a lounge appeared. Melbourne was similar, IIRC they flew press in to look at it, but found a glitch of some sort so put them on more planes home, then day or two.

I think we won't find out a certain date at all, just "when it's ready".

My guess is the start of march, maybe it'll open on my Birthday? :D (Oh wait, I would have moved to Melbourne by then.)

Never fear - if you miss out - you can both go back on a Nostalgia trip and reminisce about how it was in the good old days.

I am glad I am in Melbourne, just gone through an evening from hell, every second flight cancelled, severe weather here. Glad I'm Platinum - sitting in lounge and they have organised hotel (service limited to Platinums due demand) - that too is a barrel of laughs.

Well no progress is noticeable due to the Xmas break but mandatory photos included anyway.

I know aboustley nothing about construction, but may this have something to do with the OOL Lounge, they were moving some piping around at the first stages of construction. Or, have I, yet again embarrassed myself not knowing anything about building or construction?
