OOL Lounge

As a lowly gold, if I guested anyone but my dear other half (dear = $$$$$$$$$), I'd have to remodel the dog house for me. :(

Does anybody know who the new lounge manager is? Perhaps we can get in touch and arrange an official function?

I was under the impression that Annette was in charge of all the lounges in QLD and frequently travelled between BNE and the others, plus she lives on the Gold Coast I believe.

There could be a manager below her though.

No no, I'm pretty sure that there is a dedicated manager for OOL. I'll ask on the weekend.

hi Liam I have Zowies mobile number who is a DJ guest services manager at OOL

care to share mikey? ahaha. but Liam, I definitely think, given the sheer volume of interest in the new Lounge (I don't think too many lounges anywhere in the world would get so many posts), Virgin should be contacted to see if something official could be organised?

I am happy to call and make arrangements with DJ if you like. Just let me know?

I think that's a great idea.

Virgin is on a real Queensland roll this month! First the new Gold Coast lounge opening on May 30, also on May 30 they're beginning business class to the Sunshine Coast too, says AusBT Virgin Australia starts business class to Sunshine Coast - Flights | hotels | frequent flyer | business class - Australian Business Traveller.

Nice to see our northern neighbors getting a little love! :P

Congratulations to Virgin for having the courage to do something positive for the 'Business" end & realising that not everyone wants to fly on a cramped up saver fare & economy cabin to match.
The lounge at GC will also give some additional confidence to the passengers, & also more comfortable in the event of any delays, as one knows can be more than a regular occurrence @ OOL.

Nothing wrong with the doghouse, Ive been there for years :)

Same, I'm a member of the original 'dog house' burger bar in Chch, now its due to be reduced to rubble, if not already.

Going to NZ in Oct so hope to sample the new OOL Lounge then ...

There is nothing official about it yet

Official would be
Media Releases | 2012 | Virgin Australia

Not a media invite sent privately to selected media staffers..

Assuming that the only form of communication from Virgin is press releases, let's see what past performance can tell us:

Sydney premium entry was officially announced the day it was opened.

Mackay lounge was announced in May 2011 as being open "before the end of the year" but nothing further was officially announced until the day it opened (December 2011).

Melbourne lounge refurb was announced the day it opened.

The only recent exception I can find is Perth, was where it was announced in September 2009 that the Lounge will be open by December 2009. Nothing further was announced until the day the lounge opened in February 2010 (If anything, this shows exactly why opening dates are never announced!)

My prediction is that there'll be a press release on 30 May announcing the lounge is open that afternoon. You'd hardly fire up the coffee machine and spread out the food to impress the journos before binning it ahead of opening the lounge the next day.

In the meantime, in my opinion, there is absolutely no benefit in announcing ahead of time when the lounge is open. Pax are purchasing tickets with assumption of no lounge access, and, if it happens to be open, they win.

dont think there is actually a "lounge manager" at OOL
Annette is the BNE lounge manager
Zowie at OOL works in the new Premium Guest Service Experience role
