Dr Geoffery Edelsten had a grand piano in the lobby of his GC medical clinic years ago.......is that the "positive notes" you're thinking about for the OOL DJ Lounge??

I hope the lounge will be open for the Mid Year AFF Xmas Drinks and Dinner

It would be nice to have an early dinner and drinks overlooking the OOL riff raff before our flight!

Not with the pink carpet (mushroom if I recall the colour selection.....someone can surely correct me) and the gold laminex lined reception desk, reflective gold ceiling panels (in part) and porcelain floor tiles (??....memory not that great, 20+ years on). Flash as a rat with a gold tooth, that place.

Love the pic.. So typical GC 80's... Only skeletal remnants left of that "high era" here nowadays.. I still have my white shoes & Red Mercedes with the Duran Duran tapes playing, just to reflect on the nights spent at Rolls Night Club @ Sheraton Mirage.. Utopia!

Checked in for a OOL-MEL flight today, was informed lounge is opening on May 30th.... not exactly sure why they would pick a Wednesday to do it. Could of been complete FUD though.

Just booked flights yesterday via Brisbane since no lounge in OOL. For the 30th May. Is that ironic ?

Personally, I still prefer to fly out of OOL if I can, rather than travel to BNE.

Would normally agree. But on this occassion the flight time is more convenient, despite the extra travel, combined with the lounge.

With a lounge at OOL I would take the less convenient flight as it cancels the travel and pros outway cons.

You're right probably a safe bet at this stage given what we have seen.

I asked around at OOL and I was told various dates from the next few weeks to the end of June, so it is going to happen in the next month or two at the latest

I'll go down to GC airport & caste an easy eye over the progress.. Make sure the grand piano is strategically placed & fitting in with the decor, the fridges are well stocked with the premium blends & correct temperature & the seats 'lounges" are well comforting for any adverse affect of untimely delays..

Interesting to note that it's being referred to as a 'regional' lounge. I assume this will mean no full time barista? Potentially disappointing for the OOL regulars but I guess it's hard to tell until it's open.
