OOL Lounge

Interesting to see what every ones says about OOL and the bogans I am in Melbourne lounge now waiting to connect on a Rex flight and the women and the man sitting near me are the biggest bogans I have ever meet. She is pisxx_d swearing and telling her partner to wear budgie smugglers to a fancy dress party. The people I boarded with today at OOL were fair more sophisticated. They are flying to Adelaide.

Her three kids are no where to be seen running amok on the other side of the lounge.

I've gotta admit, the passengers on my Virgin flight Ex OOL yesterday evening were quite civilised.

Wow.. That really is great Sunday 'Entertainment" reminds me of a similar scenario with that type & the 3 kids in tow, on a flight from MEL once.. If that is the behavior in a public place.. My gosh! It's kind of humorous the scene you painted.. With the Budgie Smuggling fancy dress party.. & the shrilled necked Mrs... 1 Serious bogan spotting & experience to share for the day..

Not sure how you drive to BNE but my commutes centre around the 50 minute mark. Occasionally traffic can be hectic but those times it adds about 10 minutes. Yes, one day it could add a whole lot more but I plan around traffic and usually avoid it.

I do agree 20-30 minutes is better than 50 minutes but it has never taken me 80 minutes. Touch wood.

Holy Sh#% samh004.. Ferrari or Lamborgini? Can I join you next time you drive to BNE?? I've never done a 50min transit time to BNE airport, from my home, at least!

Usual best case is 1hr or in peak hour 90-95 mins! & that's doing 110km/h on M1 most of the way!

Cheers, jl:lol:

Yeah they probably just get it open as early as they possibly can, refraining from doing any announcements that might end up being either at too short notice (not that it could hurt them very much I suppose), or they get let down by some contractor related mishap or other misadventure. Remember the early estimates were to have this thing open in March.

It would be good to have a date so we could organise aforementioned opening party. Perhaps I should suggest something like 'the first Saturday arvo at 2pm following the day the OOL lounge is opened' for the date of such a party. That'll give us at least a couple of days notice and still be pretty close to the actual opening day. And we'll all know the day it actually opens cause it will be posted about here, elsewhere, and press releases, etc. Think of the photo ops of a line of half a dozen/a dozen of us all lined up with our free Asahis and Plat/Gold cards in hand looking (and being) the biggest, most spectacular group of w@nkers ever.

I'm only half kidding here. I travel by car to Bris from Ballina every weekend and can very easily step into the lounge at very short notice. Anyone else crazy enough to be keen on this idea? It would be even cooler to get some official sanction on this - what better group of people to round up for a media stunt celebrating the opening of a new lounge than a bunch of lounge starved frequent fliers, delighted to be free from the noisy unsanitary food court and comfy-seating-and-for-that-matter-all-seating-free-zone that is OOL? Never again will we be forced to stand ankle deep in weewee when using the men's room. Never again will we endure that noise and the echo of noise.

I'll even wear a purple tie.

I'm in. But I refuse to wear a tie, of any colour!

Yeh well considering that VA can't even give a date it's pretty funny.......

Sorry, but assuming VA released an opening date with the advised time of completion from the contractors and something occured which casued it to be delayed? Many people would be very put out as they bought a ticket with the intention of using the new lounge, and you would probably go on about how they shouldn't have released a date....

It's much safer for them to wait - even in small projects involving other parties the only thing certain is there will be bumps along the way. Gosh anyone who has renovated a room in their own house would know that! Then again India isn't in Asia...

I've been told by someone who's going to be working at the Lounge, end of May with final date TBC.

It all depends on how the construction and fit-out goes, as they never end up working according to plan.

Do NOT assume what I would or would not do, but thanks for trying!

Given it's a month or three away from completion dates would be known

Thanks for the update :)
