You are all a bunch of wusses. Beer is for pansies. Drink red wine.

I like a good beer, and plenty of them, but have found that this is not a good idea when flying. Consumption of beer on the ground = trips to the head when airborne. I find that drinking beer when airborne = the frequent trips (non points earning) + bloated feeling. I also enjoy a good red and the QP seems to stock good drinkable red wine which can also be found on board. I find that consumption of red doesn't contribute as much to the non-points earning frequent trips and does not create the bloated feeling. There is something very pleasant about consuming a v. nice red at 38 000 feet or so:D

Peter, havn't you herd the terms "Cleanser" or "Heart-Starter" :p

Rule #1 - Book Red-E deals so that when you arrive early at the QC there is almost zero chance of getting an earlier flight. Aka - drink more pish.

Rule #2 - Find a pew in between the food (for easy access to salty snacks) and bar (for easy access to lager). Aka - drink more pish.

Rule #3 - When queue becomes too long or your flight is about to be called, switch to red because it's easy to quaff in a hurry. Aka - drink more pish.

Rule #4 - Duck into the last amenities before boarding and always book an aisle seat. This will allow quaffing to continue on-board without embarrasing yourself (too much). Ditto.

Rule #5 - When FA asks "white or red", always answer "What is on the menu?". Ignore any reply (assuming there actually is some food) and respond in your soberest voice "Well, I'll have both then!" .....

[With apologies to Monty Python and the sensitive Bruces amongst you].

Cheers,

Andrew

 I have indeed, Ross. I was just taking the pish. ;)

My fav beers would be anything made by Coopers.

The only issue I have with the wine on board is that the white is always too warm (and is often sulphur based chardy - allergy to sulphur make my head turn bright red - which is amusing for me but panics other people :)) and the red is too cold - now if they got that blend right - life would be sweet :)

Bit of a shame in QF Y now as they've disappeared the wine glasses in favour of what could be adequately used as an eye-wash bowl. AND .... they frown at you drinking straight from the bottle!

And the eye wash bowls are difficult to drink from without spillage during turbulence, although I don't spose you get much of that on a 737. You orta try it on a Crash 8 that us country bumpkins have to fly on. Once, I spilled a full eye wash bowl of red over a woman wearing a cream woollen suit on a Crash 8 from CBR - SYD during turbulence. Got a refill, though:oops:

Don't you mean earfull??

No, just had a top up before the turbulence, just about spilt every last drop on the poor woman. Th FA (male) came and offered the woman drycleaning at QF expense. All I got was a refill. The woman seemed upset that I was embarrassed that I'd spilt the red all over her. What a Lady:!:

What a Lady
What a cunning plan to introduce yourself to this lovely and forgiving woman.

I had a similar occurence (but no turbulance) in B767 1D J due to the stupid seats having the drink holder above the in-seat tray mechanism. Luckily it was the small glass of water which found her rather than the Margaret River red coloured product. Turned out she was (as usual in J) a FA deadheading.

If you spill a drink in J, it would probably be nigh on impossible to miss hitting an FA deadheading. Almost no-one else sits up there.

I have had champagne spilt on me while in J. The lady next to me knocked her glass off the drinks tray and the contents emptied themselves on my trousers and the floor! Quite funny really and she was extremely apologetic. At least it wasn't red wine!

WOndering how you spot the deadheads - most people in J look like upgraders to me ...

Quite easy really. Actually, it's quite a fun game - play "spot the staffer". When you get good at it, you are normally rewarded at the end by seeing the Qantas staffer overhead bag come out when they depart!

It's very demonstrable in that they are the ones getting 100% attention from the FA's on duty when you're sitting on the edge of your seat hoping to attract their attention for some remedy to a dry cracked throat...

Oh, Som'ere more into VIPs (or at least those with big Wallets). A few years ago I sat next to (or at least near: 737 - me in 5F, empty 5E, Wiggle 5D) Jeff from the Wiggles BNE-MEL. FA's were absolutely fauning over the guy; his PR was wonderful and responsive.

Currently in the BNE domestic lounge waiting for my flight.

Go to the bar and ask for a HP... "Sorry, it's been replaced with Heineken"!

(HP lights are still available, as are Crown Lagers and a couple of other beers).

Hmmmm. Wonder if it's a temporary change or permanent!

Haven't flown for about a month but had a quick trip to SYD to see the Boy from Oz. Returning to ABX yesterday got to the QP at T2 really hot and bothered after the very hot and windy day in SYD. Don't usually have a beer in the QP but I thought it would help wash the dust away. Went over to the bar and looked at the generous array of icy cold beer in the fridge, and my gaze settled on HP. I though of the deprivation being endured by fellow members in BNE, and asked for a HP. As I sat in my seat and watched a QF 747 take off on 34L, I raised my glass in silent toast to those in BNE. Geez the HP tasted good.

I was in BNE last night and recall that there was many a bottle of Heineken there - didnt see any HP - so I went straight for the crown ;)

I was also pleasantly surprised when even though we were almost the last flight out - they still fetched more bread for us :) Good job too given the "snack" on the flight...

You orta try the "snack" on the Crash 8 service between SYD and ABX. 2 ANZAC biscuits and that's it:mad:
