You orta try the "snack" on the Crash 8 service between SYD and ABX. 2 ANZAC biscuits and that's it:mad:

Be thankful you get 2. On QF NZ domestic flights you get one muffin (sometimes it is 1 cracker plus small piece of cheese instead of a muffin). On NZ's domestic flights you get 1 mini-cookie.

Oh I had a really good Kapiti Edam and crackers, that enhancement has recently returned to the Mainland "tasty":(
Oh speaking of enhancement, NZ 1 mini-cookie, for a few flights I did not even get that, just the NZ traditional boiled lolly. Of course after camping out in the Koru Club it did not matter....lots of self serve beers.

IMO the so-called "full service" carriers should stop the charade of handing out a few buscuits and small tetrapak of juice and begin charging Y pax for real refreshments. It would be a lot more honest.

I can remember the good old days of AN and even flying Kendell from BNK-SYD you would get either a club sandwich or a salad roll as well as the 185 ml bottles of wine - you could usually knock over three of the 185 ml bottles between these two ports - and the FAs weren't backwards in doling out the plonk. A meaningful glance was all that was needed for a replacement:)

Yes... those were the days! And for a few months earlier this year they were back when O7 was flying SYD-MEL. Alas, no more. :(

Did you turn down the offer of hot drink? The mini cookie is sometimes inside the cup (and sometimes in a basket).

Oh yeah, the puddlejumpers have nothing of course since no FA. Some of those flights are 75+ minutes.

Yeah it must of been when they distributed them inside the paper cups.
I have noticed that they now hand them out in the baskets.
Oh and the basket cookies are so good and different flavours :D but I do not see them in the Koru Clubs outside of the regional ones. I wonder why?

This subject is one close to my heart. A good beer is nectar of the gods, unfortunately most of the Australian mainstream stuff is just tasteless swill. And it will never change as long as people thnk that Crownies, Cascades and Hahn are all fine beers. The term 'premium' is a code for rubbishy, adjunct laden beer with little character. None of the mainstreamers have any real hop aroma or flavour and no lager could be said to be true to the original style espoused by the German purity law. The best beers in Australia are brewed by the smaller breweries. While not now small, Little Creatures maintains the integrity it first demonstrated when intially released. It is a fine beer with a complex nose and body. Hopefully the brew can withstand the management accountants' calculators. There are many more beers being produced by the boutique brewers but a lack of exposure and high unit costs will mean they stay as as such. Meanwhile we have to put up with the mass produced cough from companies that should invest more in ingredients than advertising.

I know it is a matter of each to their own but I find this blind adherence to mediocre swill somewhat amazing. Seems to be a bit like people saying that they would be happy ordering a dried out chop and overboiled vegies every time they walked into a restaurant.

Upscale everyone and demand more. It isn't so bad being upstaged by the Poms (aahhh Fullers London Pride on BA), Belgians, Germans and Americans (yes these guys but not the Bud/Miller/Coors rubbish), but the Kiwis as well. They have some fine beers and even the larger brewers have ranges that put our blokes to shame.

let see - regional koru club with biscuits, cheese and crackers, fruit, limited drink selection

OR

full koru club with vast array of hot and cold food, regularly changed, dozens of different types beers and several wines, plus some stronger stuff

hmmm tough choice ;)

Wow Air NZ has hijacked this thread....well the Airpoints forum is dead.;)
I would like to say that the Wellington KC had a downshift in the number of beers on offer but there were certainly more that would beat HP.:p
And the biscuits, well they are really good and having a few extra in your pocket is pretty handy during the day and certainly better than a couple of sausages or quiches in your pocket....

When? I was through there a couple of weeks ago and there were heaps (more than AKL KC). I have more visits after I get back from this trip and hoped to continue working my way through the beer selection.

Yeah a couple of weeks ago, midday, there were around 30, this Monday morning there were less, I think the fridge space was being used for more cold juice & milk (foggy memory as it was 6:30) storage. So they may change it in the afternoon and restock the fridges.
Remember I seem to work a on a different rotation to you, mornings in WLG, and QPs (CHC & AKL) in the afternoons.

That could be it. I'll try to remember to check AKL early morning and afternoon to compare.

Re: (OT a bit) No more HP's in MEL domestic QP!

BTW, I was in MEL on Friday and "Pure Blonde" has replaced HP's.

Still had some in SYD however.

Pure Blonde appears to be gaining popularity with many people I know and is popular in my local golf club as well!

Was about to post a separate thread about that after my MEL visit on Friday evening, but figured I'd check here first.

All I can say is :mrgreen::mrgreen:. Never been a big HP fan (Coopers Pale Ale for me thanks), but I do like Pure Blondes. Nice clean taste, and better for you than most other beers (low carbs 'n' whatnot).

IMO, this is very much a change for the better. :)

Edit: As JohnK said - Pure Blondes (PBs?) are gaining in popularity at an alarming rate. They seem to be popular with all markets - male, female, young, old. Apparently selling like hotcakes at bottleshops all over too.

Cheers,
- Febs.

Became a HP fan after joining FT and starting the FT BNE QP AGM's.

Then added Cascade to my list of acceptable beers, but don't see them in QP's.

Had my first Coopers Pale Ale on Saturday afternoon/night, was quite impressed.

Still to sample the Pure Blonde, perhaps on my next QP visit

Yeah Pure Blonde is a nice enough beer. One of the "New Age" beers that are low carb, so better for you.

I wonder what beers will be on offer in the new F lounges in SYD and MEL...
