I've tried to like Pure Blonde, but try as I might, it is just one of those beers that doesn't do it for me. I do prefer the HP's, and even better the Coopers Pale Ale.

Hear!! hear!! Good concept with low carb beer, but it just doesn't do it, although on a hot day when you're thirsty, cold ditch water will do. It's hard to go past HP. I like to try OS beer but one good local beer I had one night in Airlie Beach was Blue Tongue.

Yep, often after a few good local beers, more than one's tongue gets Blurred.
:p

Personally, I don't like Bluetongue - far too sweet. As for Pure Blonde, I find it rather 'tasteless'.

One of the benefits of the ADL QP is the Coopers on Tap. :D

Gee, you got in quick with that reply - I edited the post about 21.5 seconds after I had posted it to read Blue Tongue. However, I do agree one's tongue is easily blurred after a few local drops. Which brings me to a modus operandi of consuming the hop if one has to pay for it. Start out with a few hits of premium beer. After about the third or fourth you don't really appreciate the quality of what you are drinking so then switch to VB or some other common and cheap brew - or quit!

That sounds like great advice Robert. :D Must try next time, but not the quitting part....

I was very disappointed that they ran out of Crown in F this week and had to drink HP - quickly switched to the shiraz...

Just didn't want to give the impression that I sometimes could be tempted to overindulge

If that is the same as overdoing it then I do it at least 2 times a week.

I have about two days of partial abstinece and the other five I slip into the overindulge gear.

I didn't think this one was worth starting a new thread for, given the subject matter:

Since the ADL QP is a shared DOM/INT, does this mean its a useful place for domestic travellers to indulge their thirst before 1300 or is it a bad place for international travellers to be stuck with EMDCTS (Early Morning Dry Cracked Throat Syndrome)?

BTW last time i was in a QP (Syd T2), the Rohrlach reds they had were lovely. And the Blue Tongue, come to think of it....

Cheers (hic).

Not sure. I went to the ADL SQ lounge instead (yup booze available at 7am), because I couldn't be bothered with immigration.

Not if you buy your drinks from the bar in ADL airport. I think it opens at around 10am.

CBR report

HP's are still here! :D

Interesting though, when I walked in a saw many drinking out of the beverage bottles. When ordering an HP I was asked if I'd prefer the bottle (rather than waste time having it poured into a Glass).

Increases service speed no end ... Most civilized. :p

I never got why they don't serve beer off the tap in the QPs. It's cheaper, and most people prefer it.

Surely the major QPs like the big 5 capital domestics could support it? I'd think even the regional ones could.

Why you're at it - get rid of the 1pm rule. It's socially acceptable to drink at 11am!

Traditionally, drinking is acceptable if the sun is over the yardarm, and it's ALWAYS over the yardarm somewhere in the world.

FWIW, it was a 3 PM 'yardarm' until AN went belly up early this century. (It was the same in the Golden Wings.)

When the PQ's became to 'only' option, between 3pm and 6pm the overcrowding was terrible. "A Little Bird" told me it was only brought forward to 1pm to encourage QP members to book earlier flights and ease the crowding in the QP's.
