Paolo's best years are behind him, so he would fit in well with current Australian politics. And wasn't it 4-0 tonight or are we talking about a less important game?

No we are talking about Newcastle v Sunderland the most important game in the history of the universe if you come from the north east of England :)

Not sure I follow, did you proof read what you wrote?

Anyway, only a fool would believe Abbott would ever be PM if he was up against almost anyone other than what is possibly the most unpopular and untrustworthy PM in history. The approval/disapproval ratings prove that he is almost as unpopular as the PM herself.

I'm saying Paulo is a strong leader and also that Newcastle got flogged at home but yes TA is not a great leader but not as bad as Alan Pardew

An interesting read thanks everyone.

I find it interesting that some people here are so entrenched on one side of the fence or other that it does not matter what facts are laid out, they will be in either full agreement or full opposition.

It would also be good if a few people would/could learn to multi quote.

You really don't have to be popular to win an election. The polls show that TA would still win easily against KR.
And back in 1975 Whitlam was much more popular than Fraser but still lost.

Over 200 years of scabbing.

Aside from the fact this is a bit of a dumb statement seeing WA is only 184 years old (i guess we can make allowances for a bit of over enthusiasm) it could be 2000 years of 'scabbing' and if WA will be forced to pay 65% i reckon you still got SFA chance of us agreeing to a higher rate on a wider range of products... And don't all states have to agree before a change can be made???

But feel free to keep having a good blub about it....

Yep, that Women for Gillard speech was just slightly a bit vomit inducing...
The most unbelievable statements are made in the dying days of a regime. As for Whitlam claiming that "Nothing will save the Governor-General" - who continued in his serene position while Whitlam never again held power - so too for Gillard's bizarre fantasies.

Perhaps you could think back three years, when Tony Abbott and Kevin Rudd were facing off. Labor's prospects under Rudd were so poor that Gillard rolled him easily. She was able to lift Labor by a crucial few points - but even that wasn't enough to gain a majority of seats.

Tony Abbott would have easily won against Rudd in 2010. And Labor knew it.

I haven't heard/read of any political commentator who was impressed with her speech. She stage managed it to the extent that no external media was allowed and a carefully edited film clip was distributed. Blue tie? Good grief. And her complete denial of Julie Bishop was disgusting.

Great stuff.

It's a shame that Julia has recently backed men into two of the safest ALP seats in the land........I suppose when you dance with the devil you have to compromise yourself.

When she talks about women.......she means woman - HER.

The ALP need to act & move this loser along.

It would also be good if a few people would/could learn to multi quote.

There are two reasons why I may not quote or multiquote. I usually do though.

The first, I am often on the iphone using your App and multiquoting isn't possible.

Second, sometimes I just don't want to quote someone because I don't want to have their words in my post,

And this morning I heard some women's lobby saying that Abbott would prevent access to abortions. It gets lower and lower. Surely some of the men in the Labor party must be hating this trend?

As far as Abbott's comment that abortion should be a last resort - I totally agree. That doesn't mean he thinks that abortion should be made more difficult, just that as a society we can't think of abortion in the same terms as contraception.

You mean those posts where I discussed a work colleague of mine who said that he had been on a working party with her and found her to be excellent to work with? Go on, take a "girls" look and you'll find it.

That's your colleague's opinion, not yours. Try the personal attacks you make Gillard about her sole motivation being power. Try the personal attacks you've made on penny Wong for not smiling. Take a girls look you'll find them.

Just watch out.I have a list of things that Tony abbott and John Howard have been called on AFF posts. Some indeed by a fellow called Medhead. Most are far worse than anything Julia has been called.

What's your point? All of those were in response to the idiotic statements made about the current government. The personal attacks on Gillard et al., to demonstrate that both sides are the same. Precisely as I stated 2 or 3 posts ago, a response to personal attacks to demonstrate hypocrisy. I'm not saying black is white here. The opposite in fact. Do try to follow.

In any case, have I ever call Abbott/Howard a witch or a cough and threaten to kill them? Do quote the post if I have.

One thing remains a constant the right wing's inability to critically assess those who they support. Abbott has implicitly supported killing the PM. Abbott denied a pair for a mother to be with a sick child (supporting the family). Yet Gillard would do anything to get power? We hear about the bungled schemes of this government but nothing about Abbott's dental scheme that went over budget by 1000%. He is not an unknown, he has history. All I'm asking is that you lot stop fighting past wars and try to assess the future. Your inability to do that makes your statements here relatively meaningless.

Yes it is. This post is your proof.

Sorry, Abbott has opposed things (ru86 or whatever the drug is) because it would make abortion easier. He has a whole history as health minister.

As far as I am concerned. Right at the moment and not so distant future, Women's Right are in danger because of our Justice System. For example, Jill Meagher, certain religious group forcing women to cover-up and treat them like second class citizen. Not to mention, some councils enforcing gender segregation at the public pools. Australia has come far to gender equality, but now we have a Prime Minister trying to use gender as an issue for her political gain. So far, Gillard attacks Abbott on him being a misogynist, while blatantly ignores the social injustice done to women under her very own nose. Did she ever offered medical assistant to that Pakistani girl shot by Taliban, did she express her outrage at the injustice? When she visited India, did she raise the issue about gender equality issue and call misogyny when she sees it?

Tony Abbott is not much better either! He has been awfully silent on the issue.

I am sick and tired of watching rabid dogs attacking each other... (Yes, please call me a misogynist for referring to PM as a female dog here and a man-hater for calling Abbott the same). As a voter, I want to see the actual policies on what they will do for managing the economy, maintain a strong border, a development strategy for education and health, transportation (Air, Road, Public Transpora)... etc. No more barking please, show me the policy and let me choose the best CEO and Board members... (Just like we would as a shareholder for a company)

I didnt have to post anything positive at all, did I! I could have ignored them completely. Why raise Penny Wong?

In any case, have I ever call Abbott/Howard a witch or a cough and threaten to kill them? Do quote the post if I have. .

And tit for tat, I have never called Gillard the same. Do quote the post if I have.

Yes it is. This post is your proof..

Dude, I was on my computer when I posted that. Sheesh.
Just like I am now.

Sorry, Abbott has opposed things (ru86 or whatever the drug is) because it would make abortion easier. He has a whole history as health minister.

OPPOSITION Leader Tony Abbott says he would accept the advice of health experts about putting drugs like the controversial abortion pill RU486 on the government subsidy list.

And Rudd is wearing a blue tie in defiance of Gillards lecture yesterday.

I CONFESS

I own and have (shudder) WORN a blue tie - in public!! The Prime Minister no less seems to think that makes me the lowest of the low - reason for public scorn, derision, labelling as just plain bad.

Oh, GOD.

What shall I do? Has she sikked ASIO onto me?

WHERE can I hide?

My name is mud. For shame. I cannot put my face in public, I will probably be sacked by my company, who wants to do business with the federal Budget.

I THOUGHT the prime Minister was going to scorn child molesters; the stealers of widows and orphans pensions, the polluters of our waters, the purveyors of cough. I thought I was safe.

BUT NO!! She saw right through me - went for the jugular and used her public spotlight and authority to go for the the worst. Blue tie wearers!

Sob! And not only that - blue tie wearers who are Treasurers!

ps does anyone still want to defend this vacuous Prime Ministerial waste of space?
