Who better to lead them to defeat? Lots of people seem to conveniently forget KRudd and Rudd the dud. He sure can't win them an election, especially given his egotistical white anting. Who could lead them to a win? Keating or Hawke? But they're long gone.

If anything, just like Howard, she has to stay there to take the fall.

Wow, this is scary. I agree with your post.

But I am still waiting for all those derogatory posts that have been attributed to me. :)

Screw changes to the GST, if the people of WA are forecast to pay up to 65% of each $1 of our GST to the other states, it can stay as low and as on few things as possible!!!

Welcome to the real world, it is only in the last few years that WA has gone from being a leech on Australian finances to being a contributor.

Once the ore is dug up and sold off then things will return to normal and we'll be back subsidising you.

Watching Labor descending into pit of madness is very disheartening. Somehow, it reminded me of the dying days of Ansett in September 2011. Some rusted-on Golden Wing members still flew with them wishing for the greatest miracle of a rescue from the leadership of SIA or AirNZ. While the otherside (Qantas) was already preparing to takeover the market share. Once a great institution now become an un-electable entity.

(Just thought I'd bring some Flyer's Talk back into this thread...)

Seriously, whether Gillard stays or goes, her leadership is tainted and her days are numbered like Ansett. Whoever take over Labor leadership, would just see himself or herself under the control of the caucus. Furthermore, if KRudd returns, I suspect he will just get knived soon after the election. On the lighter note, is Gillard going to cry sexist and misogyny against Shorten/Rudd/Crean for kniving her in the back?

Coalition - like Qantas - only need to maintain BAU/Status Quo and watch ALP (Ansett) to fold all by itself.

Edit: Spelling

Gillard's days are numbered. Either she is going to lead Labor to a truly horrific belting at the election, and her name will forever be mud. Or she is going to be pushed aside in favour of another leader.

Who will take them to a slightly less historic defeat. Their best bet would be to repeat Gillard's tactic of calling the earliest possible election to make the most of whatever honeymoon period they can get.

If by some collective act of lunacy, the ALP takes on Rudd for a second go, watch the election debate. It will be a ripper. Abbott has destroyed Rudd once and knows what buttons to push. Rudd has a problem with dealing with valid criticism and Abbott won't hold back as he would with Gillard. Rudd would melt down entirely. Live on prime TV.

However it plays, the Labor lounge is going to be a sparse environment come September.

Yep, just a matter of paying back the money that WA scabbed off the rest of the country for years. Funny how they didn't whinge when they were get subsidised.

They're the ones with your name on them contain the word Gillard.

Just watch out.I have a list of things that Tony abbott and John Howard have been called on AFF posts. Some indeed by a fellow called Medhead. Most are far worse than anything Julia has been called.

You mean those posts where I discussed a work colleague of mine who said that he had been on a working party with her and found her to be excellent to work with? Go on, take a "girls" look and you'll find it.

I think that it's a great pity that our first female PM has performed so badly. Speaking as a female, she has never appeared to me to be a leader. Being good at "getting things done" doesn't make someone a leader. As for her "misogny" statement - it was degrading to our sex to hear her rant in parliament and she should have known better.

I'm waiting with the cricket bat - and it will be same if KRudd, Shortie or any of the others are the leader in the next election. Such a pity after the Hawke / Keating era.

Nice speech, Not. Abortion? How low can we go. She does not speak for women. Surely she should speak for Australians.

It's all got very ugly, the government & Julia are both in their death throes and they know it.

Even the rusted on labour supporters must be dismayed with current events, I know the press are responsible for most of it but there must be info from somewhere in the ALP. Anyway it's resulting in total self destruction I've never seen anything like it. TA must be clapping his hands

TA must be clapping his hands

Yes, and sadly for the country he is only the best of a s**t choice. Does anyone know what the approval rating of the most unpopular newly elected PM is? Surely TA will be giving that record a shake.

Lol mate the country needs an Aussie PM like Paulo Di Canio to go through them like a dose of salts and you're the only one that will understand that 0-3 by the way did you watch it :)

Perhaps she just wanted to remind people of Tony Abbott's description of abortion as the "easy way out" and "morally black and white". Comments that he hasn't rescinded, merely commenting that "I didn't express it as well as I could have". So Julia Gillard shouldn't speak for women but it's OK for Tony Abbott to judge them??

Paolo's best years are behind him, so he would fit in well with current Australian politics. And wasn't it 4-0 tonight or are we talking about a less important game?

Monday 11 March 2013

LIZ HAYES: Well, how offhand was your line about abortion when you said it was the easy way out?
TONY ABBOTT: Liz, I don’t want to minimise from time to time the errors that I’ve made.
LIZ HAYES: Was that an error?
TONY ABBOTT: Well, I didn’t express it as well as I could have or should have. And I absolutely accept that for any woman facing an unexpected pregnancy, the choices are tough.

I don't have an issue with his clarification moody and it doesn't sound like he's judging anyone.

I haven't heard/read of any political commentator who was impressed with her speech. She stage managed it to the extent that no external media was allowed and a carefully edited film clip was distributed. Blue tie? Good grief. And her complete denial of Julie Bishop was disgusting.

Not sure I follow, did you proof read what you wrote?

Anyway, only a fool would believe Abbott would ever be PM if he was up against almost anyone other than what is possibly the most unpopular and untrustworthy PM in history. The approval/disapproval ratings prove that he is almost as unpopular as the PM herself.
