Lucky wasnt ask the more difficult questions like, is it their policy to allow members to have xx_ with their mistress in the government annex or
go on study Trips to NZ so they can luckily meet their Mistress as well. Its ok in QLD.

Also with airlines crying poor, then here's a tip, stop giving free upgrades to politicians so they not using it to meet their mistress. You may find if you give
upgrades to genuine business people, then they are more likely to spread the word about how good your company is, which may just encourage businesses to
start flying their staff again in business or first class (instead of telecommuting).

Yes - Mal knew his limitations straight away. The penny hasn't apparently dropped for Mr Diaz .... or Tony Abbott for that matter.

He did pretty well in the last election! I remember the glory days back in 2007 where every man & his dog was crowing that the ALP would be in office for at least 4 terms......I wonder if they can make it 2.5 ? I'm counting the current term as .5 because Bobby, really ran the show.

It will probably take several terms for both. Diaz is young, he's got another twenty years in him easy. My advice is not to stress too much while you are waiting to be proven right. Enjoy your old age.

Cheers!

Indeed. I'd also like to know how many Labor politicians have ever run a business.
Craig Thomson would be the closest. No business experience, but if he were ever asked to organise something in a whatsit, he would be Labor's goto guy.

Does not having done something exclude one from commenting on it ?
There's a lot of economics teachers in this thread.

And a lot of politicians.

Reminds me of why there aren't any capable people in Parliament, able to identify problems and supply solutions. They are all out driving cabs.

Political commentary along the lines of what we are doing here is an armchair sport for all. No experience required. Anyone can saddle up and have a burl.

When a person cant answer two simple questions, then it shows they dont even follow the news to be able to make up an answer. Then you end up like in QLD where voters elected a 20 year old that spent more time twittering in parliament, then formulating questions and answers for a changing world economy. So that what you get for wasting your vote.

So when you elect people who dont have a single thought in their mind, then you get follow the leader, and no one willing to challenge what the leader says or does.

Have you ever watched Question Time, when the Government front bench reveal that they are - knowing full well that they are on live broadcast to the nation and their answers recorded in hardback books - unable to give straight answers to simple questions?

Now, obviously young Mr Diaz was caught out not doing his homework, but if we were to apply the same standards to all, we would have nobody eligible to sit in Parliament, would we?

Now I'll bet that Mr Diaz got told some good advice later on, and it wasn't the answer to the question, it was how to deal with questions where you don't know the answer. Look at the pros on both sides when they get a curly one - they don't reveal their ignorance if they can help it, but instead answer a question that wasn't asked, but where they have the right answer. Or they attack the other side, or they waffle on about something else entirely.

Perhaps we can revisit this issue when someone from a different party makes a similar gaffe and see if the same standards are upheld?

Unlike all the lawyers on the other side!

Lawyers are more involved in business and hell, many of them even own one, or are in partnerships, than Union specialists.

Clearly you missed the interview for the labor candidate destined to take over Gillard's seat. She quite rightly got dumped.

It just shows that his master Mr Tony has no policies. You cant tell me after 4 years of making out the government has failed on the boats that you wouldnt have an answer. You cant tell me since the last election, on their paid baby leave, you would not have the answers. The public is entitled to answers. And blind freddy knew an election was going to happen around mid year. They have selected candidates that would never be a challenge to him, as they just would never have an answer for the media or the public. Do you beleive this person getting elected to pariliament would be capable to be a minister. Anyone getting elected to parliament should meet that requirement, especially when crying poor earning 150,000 a year and taxpayer pension.

He was selected as they thought the election would be a cake walk, and none of their candidates would have to answer a question, just like Mr Tony.

As for your comment that in parliament the minsters have book to read from. That just shows someone who is prepared, and not someone making things off the cuff, unlike Mr Tony that has a new idea everyday (only after the government had given it already). He has no policy on education, and no policy on the boats; the list goes on. He has no right to be PM, especially as he spent more time rubbishing the Australian economy to the world, while not one person from outside Australia has had anything noteworthy to support what he said.

And if things are so bad here, well someone should tell my friend who is currently overseas. They cant wait to get back here as they seen the bad things happening over there.

I seem to recall someone looked into it, and the only members from the two major parties who had done anything close to "real work" in their lifetimes were Malcolm Turnbull and Peter Garrett.

If overseas countries are our yardstick then we are screwed. I detest such cop outs. And I'm not bothering with the rest of the post.

I know about midnight oil. Anything else? Because being a rock singer doesn't count for me. And Turnbull is Liberal.

Oh, he has an answer. It's the same answer he has any time someone actually asks for details:

'We'll do what John Howard did.'

IIRC she wasn't "the candidate" she was one of a number of people up for the role, and poor though she was she still ran rings around Mr Diaz.
