When people run and hide - they have something to run from.

The jails of the world are full of innocent people;)
Actually that's quite frequently the case in the USA And many of the rest are drug addicts.

You may not realise it but there are lots of innocent people in jail. The USA especially has lots of them as demonstrated by The Innocence Project. The Innocence Project - Home
There are many things the USA could do better. To serve as a beacon of hope and freedom and democracy, America needs to be one in actuality.

We see the sunny side of America. The diners, the markets, the music, the movies. The broad, smiling land of wealth and culture.

But if you are black, male and haven't been educated beyond high school, the view is very much darker.

This piece from the New Yorker says it all more eloquently and with greater authority.

His behaviour is certainly bizarre. Even if he is guilty of everything of which he is accused, he is far safer in Sweden than at large in the UK, one of the USA's closest allies. Likewise, if I had to be imprisoned, it would be difficult to find a better place to serve time than Sweden.

My feeling is that he is trying to avoid facing his accusers by playing on his Wikileaks notoriety, and the situation he has built for himself is now very much that of a prison.

As it happens, I'll be looking at the Wikileaks party very closely when it comes time to cast a vote. The issues being raised over online surveillance, the erosion of privacy, and the potential for abuse are disturbing. But my lukewarm support for the party comes inspite, rather than because, of Julian Assange.

Ms Hanson-Young said no one who understands refugee policy believes more people came to Australia just because the Labor Party were elected in 2007. --news.com.au
This is the unsustainable argument adopted by the Greens - and some Labor supporters: that John Howard's Pacific Solution didn't work, it was just that refugees stopped coming on boats. And got onto planes instead.

And when Kevin Rudd dismantled the Pacific solution, they just happened to get back on boats again.

Now, I'm with the radio host on this one. Hanson-Young's position is ridiculous. How the Greens can claim to be the party of thinking people with notions like this, I can't understand. Delusion is the word that springs to mind.

Because the alternative - that they think their supporters are mugs - doesn't square.

I think Hanson Young is facing some electoral pressure???

Karma for the ridiculous uncosted policy of saving the world....

Hate to blow your scene but this bloke is an alleged ravisher and until he faces his accusers - he is pure scum!
Good to see you're such a strong believer in innocent until proven guilty.

I'm pretty sure his accusers already stated they have no interest in pursuing him - he was, after all, allowed to leave the country. The case was picked up by a prosecutor with something to prove and has now gone too far in to back out.

The whole situation surrounding Assange is bizarre.

Well, until he fronts the court he's actions reek of guilt. No one is above the law and this tosser is showing the classic signs of being right royally up himself!

I'm not surprised the girls are second guessing themselves now - the circus this guy has created is a joke. Who would want that kind of attention?

Doesn't make him innocent. Only a court process will do that.

"Now" ? They haven't had any interest in pursuing him for years. Since he first fronted the police station, was interviewed, then allowed to leave the country.

It's been a while since I paid much attention, but I'm fairly sure all they ever wanted him to do was take an STD test.

Doesn't make him innocent. Only a court process will do that.
No, you have that backwards. A court process decides whether or not he's guilty.

A court process decides whether or not he's guilty.
Or innocent.

"Innocent until proven guilty" merely means that the prosecution must establish their case. It isn't "guilty until proven innocent" which would force the accused to prove their innocence, a difficult and sometimes impossible task.

Every onlooker is entitled to make up their own mind on a case. Whether that opinion matches that of a judge and jury is immaterial. Apart from the imposition of official penalties, of course. If, for example, the chap in the downstairs flat steals my bike and I observe him riding away on it, I don't consider him innocent. That would be foolish.

Assange is a creep. I don't like him. He went throughout the correct procedures and was allowed to leave. Unless there is new evidence then why does he need to return. And the USA could unbundle everything by confirming they won't seek extradition from Sweden. Easy.

 The court will confirm ones innocence or guilt - pretty simple concept!

You are innocent unless the court finds you guilty. The only verdict is guilty or not guilty. There is no such verdict as innocent.

Secrets are secrets for a reason, just imagine if Assange and his mob leaked info about Russia, be no 12 month VISA for his mate.
