I thought Annabel looked at one stage, like she stepped on a pile of doggy doo and was smelling it. Not happy Jan.

Last night on Adelaide radio both Abbott and Rudd were interviewed in a fun skit outside of politics. The interview with Rudd was a little awkward - quite formal. Abbott seemed much more relaxed. I'm guessing both must be absolutely exhausted.

They were asked to choose two songs if they were stranded on a desert island. Rudd chose a work by Bach (I think I've heard it at weddings) and Moonshadow. Abbott chose Suspicious Minds and Unchained Melody.

I would have thought Adagio for strings would be more appropriate for Rudd. I'm thinking of that moment in platoon :)

I'm astonished that Rudd hasn't snapped in public by now. Must be a staffer or two who can supply private details.

Rudd is a person who lives (and dies) for the headlines in the paper. He can't have had good reading recently.

I watched the episode last night. He sat there and dribbled out those lines without even a hint of accepting that he has been on a crusade of destroying so that he can reclaim the spoils of the role. He has single handily crippled the labor party with his hatred, cunning and ruthless tactics......they will be better off without him come Sunday.

What was disgraceful was his rude rejection of the dessert that Ms Crabb made for him.......no doubt he didn't like the thought of having left over egg whites from the dessert she made for Tony.

Very rude behaviour!
Ow. I haven't seen the episode yet, but how could he be so rude? Annabel is one of my superheroes. I used to watch her on The Insiders years ago, and was impressed by her wit, her perception and her humour. She writes a weekly column that has my wife and I howling with laughter.

She is such a sweet person - she could cook up a beetroot surprise for me and I'd eat it without a quiver.

What is this (unhealthy) fascination with Abbott and his daughters. Rudd's daughter was in the cooking show and not a comment. So who exactly has the obsession here.
Anything to attack Abbott. Anything. some people can't see straight at the moment, bless their blinkered hearts.

Family gatherings must be a barrel of laughs when the brothers Rudd get together.

Brother's prophecy: zero chance of Rudd victory

Greg Rudd said: "Right from a very early age, Kevin doesn't handle defeat or rejection well

So he won't handle it well, and he'll find it difficult to understand why – because the election won't just be small loss, I think it'll be a larger than small loss. And in his own head, I think he'll find it difficult to understand why that's occurred.

So in other words the toys have been out of the pram from a very early age

I have resisted commenting so far in this thread for fear of starting a firestorm!
But my comment is regarding Kevin Rudd's walk in Melbourne yesterday.
Surrounded by so many admirers in Kevin or Labor T shirts, enamoured of taking selfies.
Such a high proportion of Asian students, could it be that they were hired by Labor, or excited by their moment of fame?
Not sure many of them were actual voters.

Why? And so what?

Well, if he's going to keep pimping them out and they're going to keep letting him do it. I don't think there's a suggestion that his relationship with them is creepy btw.

That's true. But Rudds daughter featured prominently last night and nary a comment.

Coming from someone who barely seems to be able to go more than a day or two without some vitriol aimed at Rudd, that's pretty funny.

The difference is that I'm not making stuff up. When I talk about his capacity for revenge, I'm basing it on his history - it's not malicious speculation.

"The Age has long held that policy, not personality, is the core of our democracy."

If my decision was based on policy, then I'd be inclined to vote Labor too.

But to do so would be to ignore Rudd's record - he proposed plenty of policies, and is doing so to this day, but his record on actually getting things done is woeful.

It also ignores Rudd's personality. Almost singlehandedly he has destroyed the Federal ALP. His treachery in the 2010 campaign resulted in Labor almost losing, and the difficulties a hung parliament put in Gillard's way were eventually too much for her. It didn't help that she was relentlessly attacked by the Opposition Leader - just doing his job - and her own Foreign Minister, bent on revenge.

They have been years of disunity and disorder. Look at the current Government, a great amount of experience gone, Rudd supporters promoted to fill the gaps. There's little in the way of teamwork, with Rudd making his own strategic decisions on the fly. Half of Caucus is on record as having criticised Rudd with various degrees of savageness.

He was selected, not because of his policies or his vision, but because he looked likely to save a few seats in the inevitable Labor wipeout.

And now even that is debatable.

The poll at the end of that article is interesting. First poll I've seen for a long time that shows ALP in the lead!

Good sample size of 40,511
Just running that through Antony Green, and Labor would win 114 seats to the Coalition's 33, with three independent. This could be the big turnaround that Rudd has confidently predicted. That Kitchen Cabinet episode has paid off big time!
