Landed pretty refreshed with a good 8 hours sleep under the belt. The transit over to T5 was horrendous.... makes the bus run at SYD feel like a private transfer.

BA F lounge .... disappointing as always!

The OTT airport transfer.... it was a very nice ride with a personal greeting at the airbridge right through to closing the RR door.

Did you ask about the plate of the day on QF F?
Interesting they have the CDC 2007. They were serving the 2006 ex-LAX only a couple of months ago.

No, on the plate of the day. I’ve never asked that for any of our F flights. We’ve had CDC on board a few times, will need to review my TRs to confirm past vintages.

Is it reasonable to expect a current model RR for the pickup?

That’s a superseded RR model

No idea on the model or age. I’ll ask about that as we’ve hired it for a half day tour, so have plenty of time to chit chat about the nitty gritty stuff.

The hotel checkin was early and easy, always good when the bags are in the room before you. After a quick scout around the suite and the 5 balconies that come with it, it was time to get out and about and walk off some of that F&B consumed over the last 30 odd hours.

Gay Paree is a large place and I am quite sure us quiet mice will visit and vacate next month with no problems….

Hotel de Crillon is one of 11 “Palace” hotels in Paris and 25 in all of France. Palace hotel is a Gov rating system that is apparently set higher than the standard traditional 5 star property. When the rating was created Hotel de Crillon missed out .... so they set about correcting that by closing the hotel for 4 years and spending >$200US million sprucing it up. It was rewarded the Palace rating in Sept 2018.

It’s located right on Place de la Concorde, right next to the US embassy.

The location is excellent and the hotel is looking mighty fine after such an extensive renovation.

That suite looks sweet! How has the service at the hotel been?

Arpège - Alain Passard’s 3* Michelin restaurant and No 8 on the World’s best 50 list.

He’s held 3* for 22 years, and went vegetarian in 2001:oops: Although meat has since returned, vegetables still nominate the menu.

The de Crillon Maybach S class house car was available to drive us to the restaurant.

The Turbot went on a tour around the dining room ..... later in the evening the roast chicken was also proudly put on display.

The Turbot - huge portion size and I must say, pretty tasteless.

The roast chook... this one was worthy of being taken around the room. Delicious

This is where he lost us. White asparagus presented as dessert.

The chef (Allan Passard) took the time to visit every table and was very engaging and generous with his time.

In summary - all but two courses we found to be inventive, well presented and delicious.

I would recommend eating here.

Love Louis Jadot. A UK friend put me into it but it has been a long time since I have drank any of that. The meal looked nice but I think I would prefer something a bit more carnivorous!

Looks a wonderful Happy Birthday ...
