Your photos of Giverny are excellent. I thought you weren't supposed to take photos in the kitchen and scullery :p

For some reason Le Jardin du Luxembourg was closed until 1pm.

The view from the outside...

So we went and checked out Place Saint-Sulpice and Eglise Saint-Sulpice

Memories! we stayed in Paris for a month to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary & our apartment was just nearby so this was our morning commute.

Aren’t you? I recall we have been able to, though my last visit was a while back so it might’ve changed.

Sorry - referring to taking photos in the house. :)

Thanks. Pretty happy with the quality given I only use a phone.

Not sure about that. There were plenty of staff placed throughout the house and plenty of people with cameras and phones out. Certainly didn't see any signs..... if I did, I would have complied.

An absolutely exquisite place. The kind of place that just makes you feel good walking around.

Exactly. It's a really easy half day trip from Paris. 2 hours in the car or train, and 2hrs walking around the property.... of course they have a large gift shop at the exit, navigating that is included in my time allocation above ;)

It's not open all year around, closed between Nov - and late March.

Trains seem problematic , nearest train stop is a fair way away from the location
We will probably just walk 500m down the street to Avis after brekky and hire little car for the day.. cheap and easy

We were very lucky with the weather. The day started out wet, cleared up during the drive to Giverny, and started to rain on the trip back.

mrsamaroo captured this moment from the backseat - not a bad artsy photo.

It's Saturday, so that means the Police Nationale and the Gendarmerie were out in force to play with the Yellow Vests. This has been a weekly ritual for the past 27 or so weeks. The drive back was a little congested due to the many road blocks set up by the very heavily geared coppers. It looked like something from a Hollywood movie, the Gendarmerie looked like they were ready for battle. The hardware they had on the street was impressive.

We had to past a few of these roadblocks, this is the last one that leads onto Place de la Concorde and our hotel. A little hard to make out from the photo, but the trucks have these automatically deployed barriers - they line up, push a button and the barrier is deployed blocking the street. This photo shows two trucks doing the job.... we only saw these on the streets of Paris for VE day and Saturday afternoon. Amazing bit of kit!

Also saw a few of these water cannon trucks, but the yellow vest weren't that interested - maybe the weather or a decent game of soccer was on the telly and sucked their enthusiasm dry. This afternoon we walked throughout the 1st, 7th and 8th ARR, and didn't see anything out of the ordinary - the police and all road blocks were off the streets by around 6pm. The streets and cafes were full of people going about their normal routine...

Some more real estate windows.... 8m2 for only 149,000 euros. Must be tough being a first home buyer in this city!

First time I've seen an agent try to flog a property using volume, but at 8 m2 ..... a whopping 20.93 m3 sounds better :p

The weather cleared up allowing a nice Saturday afternoon rouge or two

Back at the hotel we heard some nice tunes coming from the bar.... that’s when I remembered we had some free drinks that needed knocking off. Nothing like leaving it to the last minute.

The hotel bar - Les Ambassadeurs

The three piece band was excellent.

For our last night we selected family favourite - La Fontaine de Mars

This is an old school bistro .... love this place, highly recommended.

CDG T1 Star Alliance lounge .... apparently it's a new / refurbished lounge.

We were directed to a small room within the lounge - not sure what the access rights are to get in here, but it wasn't that flash! I actually wondered if we were in the right location, but given everyone in this area was also onboard ..... I must have been.

There was no agent or any signage ... so it could easily be a bit of a free for all. Underwhelming is the word!

As we were on a midday flight, and had breakfast at the hotel - we didn't indulge.

Nice outdoor area, unfortunately populated by smokers.

I hope the wine offerings were better than the basic spirits shown :(

Righto, time to head home and see what those kids have been up to.

We haven't stepped foot on a Singapore Airlines aircraft for > 15 years. Will be interesting to see how it stacks up with QF.... midday departure for a 13hr flight will provide the perfect conditions for a test flight ;)

FWIW, CDG is still issuing the golden TPR invites.

Not too shabby at all ;) what type of aircraft?

I thought CDG T1 was a bit like Hogwarts, with the criss-crossing escalators.

Indeed. Maybe the better lounge had moved to another location - because that one certainly wasn't First Class standard.

I hope the wine offerings were better than the basic spirits shown :(

I'm a QF / OW flyer so haven't got much of an idea on Star Alliance lounges .... but this one was a dud.
