Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

A few announcements.
Tahiti to open border in August.

Thai staff are revolting and International flights not resuming until August 1.

And for health care workers who are Miles and Smiles members Turkish is offering 40% discount on fares-Y and J.

I am rather curious about the situation in NZ.
Why is it that they have not been having cases from returned travellers?
Or is it that they don't have any returned travellers? No flights?

I don't think they count them in their statistics. We shouldn't either.

Scoot Morrison finally speaks out to demand states to open borders by July:

Seriously I think enough is enough, otherwise I think we will not going to have Trans-Tasman Travel bubble early enough to enable Australians to return to Asia by September school holiday.

God forbid no travel by school holidays! In Europe, we're missing out on our entire summer. So we've come out of a cold, miserable winter; into Spring where we couldn't travel, into summer where we can't travel........... I think Australia has had it pretty good, at least it happened at the end of summer for you and you can still travel with a degree of freedom locally.

I think Australias policy is now effectively elimination of community transfer.
But to retain this you can only have international travel in a bubble and 14-day for everywhere else.

Pretty limited set of Asian countries that we could consider in a bubble - probably only Taiwan and Hong Kong.
South Korea and Japan are still running at 300+ cases a week, and Singapore 2000+ (albeit most still in the dorms)

How is that fair to the states that are testing more than others? Like VIC and NSW? SA has now slipped to third... Qld who even knows what they are doing!

I don't think it is fair that they saying they are suppressing, but acting as though they are eliminating.

If those states stopped testing people in quarantine there would be very few cases. I agree. Nothing like rewarding a state for being thorough by banning them for the results. I currently detest our state Government and can't stand a word coming from his mouth. He looks like a fool.

I wonder how China would feel about that, as technically they're not their own country per-say. I say this, thinking of all the issues airlines in America had by not deeming Taiwan and Hong Kong to be 'China'........

As a HongKonger, that's enough already.

Other countries includes Malaysia and Thailand are getting rid of local transmission as well. So I think we can open to Malaysia and Thailand in October, earlier should Malaysia election is being held, to faciliate Australian Malaysians to vote.

You'd expect SA with population.
SA is 55 days without community transmission.
That's a lot of tests in that time.

Queensland is still testing. Just playing politics on the border

Hope you are right but just don’t see it happening. I’ve given up hope of International travel happening to Asia much before Christmas

BoJo will be taking the 5pm Downing Street briefing today, it's expected he will announce the lifting of the FCO's blanket "we recommend against all but essential travel only" notice.

Another no news announcement. Still no easing of lockdowns, unless you live by yourself as you can now form a "support bubble" with one other household to combat loneliness. The rage continues to build and fester.

Absolutely which is possibly why the protests have been so fierce in places.
