Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

Scott Morrison seems to have indicated that some states could open up to international travel before others:

Some detail on the SA home quarantine pilot in here. It sounds pretty..:stressful.

Australia Traded Away Too Much Liberty
I'd prefer that stress over the stress of an indefinite ban on seeing Australian family overseas. I would have put up with that over 12 months ago if it meant I could go. Things once thought unthinkable we'll have to get used to for a while.

There is a major issue about those that land in one "open" location but need to go through I guess mandatory hotel quarantine to be at a "closed" location.
This is my main question. I'm in Alice, and fly QFF ASP to DRW, then will exit Australia maybe med next year via DRW - SIN - CDG all direct. Can I land in Darwin, then same day without leaving airport fly bac to Alice and home quarantine? Is there a timeframe between landing and departing domestically - same airport, and will ensure I return and exit same day. Would even be prepared to home quarantine AirBNB in Darwin, but rather flyhome and quarantine at home.

This would be the same in other states, flying into Perth & onflying to Kalgoorlie, Sydney to Orange, Melbourne to Ballarat, you name it.

I think someone mentioned that with the SA trial you need to do the home quarantine within a few hours drive from the airport.

Apart from perhaps a LHR-DRW flight continuing onto MEL or SYD with perhaps those continuing on to stay onboard it seems doubtful than onward flights would be allowed.

Assuming 80% vaccination is enough for NT to not require international quarantine - then yes.

I heard the NT Chief Minister being worried that indigenous communities need higher than 80% for the community protection.....

Intrastate shouldn't be a problem as one would presume the international entry rules apply uniformly for across the State's residents.

Does seem like the assumption of innocence line is somewhere way way way back behind us.

Replying to myself seems somewhat narcisistic but this feels like a continuation of demonisation of overseas travellers.

None of this is imposed on positive cases that acquire it in the community, bear in mind they are talking about home quarantine for vaccinated people, so they want to not worry about cases, just worry about hospital and deaths.

But if you step off you have to put your face in a phone (I have never used facial recog or fingerprint for one of my phones). and when they pull your leash you have to bark within 15 minutes and submit an image to PROVE you are obeying like NO ONE ELSE HAS TO just because you stepped off a plane.

hmmm
lost charger?
dropped phone?
accidentally stumbled into a faraday cage?

Haven’t seen these comments reported anywhere else either.
Not exactly a credible source when there have been no details released yet somehow in the US they know the details? It's just facial recognition and GPS. At selected times of the day. And when done, delete the app.

Honestly? Is your post serious? Currently it's been trialled with a mix of overseas and interstate travellers who would otherwise be put into a med hotel for 14 days. I'd do it in a heartbeat. Most modern phones have face recognition which is great, except when wearing a mask.

yes, do you honestly think fully vaccinated poeple people getting off a plane should be subject to harsher restrictions than people who were in say a restaurant with a positive person in it?

bear in mind this is post 80% where we are living with covid not going for covid zero

Is it just me or does anyone else feel that we might still have the doona on but this week we stuck our toes out to see how cold it is ?
The Tasmanian Government has proved the point today.Their Media show today was mostly concerned with the repatriation flight from London. It was described as a risk and the most likely action that might let delta in that we have done. But all staff at the HQ they are going to are fully vaccinated.
The CHO when asked said this was not a decision based on public health advice alone.Unsaid -So don't blame me.

This is what we already have in Western Australia when returning from medium risk states, although only 4 mins IIRC to respond. Then a telephone call rather than an immediate visit by police.

It might seem Orwellian, but considering that some people go shopping, to gyms and visiting when they are supposed to be quarantining, it became necessary.

It is not stressful at all, and very easy if you are doing the right thing and staying home, which most do. Plus each day you open the app and confirm your health is good. Much better being at home isolating than in a hotel room!

I think the extent of home quarantine in a post-80% world will depend on a traffic light system of country covid risk. Yes it might seem a bit overboard and Australia will still probably insist on pre-flight PCR, etc. Australia will need time to get comfortable to how they use home quarantine and when no quarantine is required..

what triggers falling into that requirement? being at an exposure site?

This is what justifies that deep an intrusion?

Must…Fly has already answered, plus I added onto my original post.

As the system works when returning home from medium risk states, I should think the system can be used equally well when returning from overseas.

Getting people home from the airport needs to be worked out and hasn’t been discussed as far as I can see. For instance, if a family member collects by car, that person will have to isolate in the same house as well.

So Taxi drivers / uber drivers / bus drivers will only get to do one shift a fortnight?

just to clarify are you talking about vaccinated or unvaccinated people?

why should this not apply to anyone who was at a known exposure site?
