Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

Mark McGowan's head is about to explode... /s

In synchronisation with the QLD Premier, outgoing QLD CHO, Tassie Premier and the SA CHO…. Been hilarious to watch their snide responses

Wonder what this means for the Australian Open? Dan will surely sign up to fix the AO. Doesn't help with Djokovic tho who is an antivaxer.

Boring player to watch anyway will be glad he isn’t coming.

Hasn’t changed my world - temporary resident who now has to watch all my work colleagues and neighbours fly around the world. But on semantics I am classed as not ‘living’ here. I have no issue with Australian citizens and permanent residents being included but cannot fathom how ‘residents’ who have been fully present in Australia for over 2 years are classed as sub citizens. Maybe I will ask my next door neighbour to go and visit my elderly parents for me.
I am sorry to hear that. Perhaps that will come to pass soon. It's a start and that's what we needed.

Totally agree.

I would understand if Aussie citizens / immediate were given a couple of weeks head start but this seems really dumb…

In this case it's all about the other states holding things up and the Feds not wanting to get ahead of them.

Dom is ready to go. He'd have international tourists back on 1 November 0500 on BA/QF at SYD if he could.

I know thats unfortunate. But she can still come and quarantine for 14 days which was not possible before.
so some good news if not the best.

This case of Aussies and families only makes me a bit happier.

Because I would hazzard a guess and say that in the first 2 weeks of November, people coming into Australia would just be stranded Australians and most of these would be fully vaccinated with TGA vaccine.

So less chances of reaching the 210/week limit.

When QF took a punt on mid-December to resume, plenty were sceptical. Now that we have it at 1 November for citizens we are complaining. By med-December it is likely to be a different game anyway.

Who's complaining? I'm certainly not!

Just waiting now for Qantas or Air New Zealand to start selling AKL-SYD flights for 1 November...

Our PM ScoMo has overruled DM's plan to open NSW int borders.
Edit: Latest news.
No, thats *fake news*

The border is opening for AU Citizens and PRs to return + immediate family of PRs.

AU Citizens and PRs are free to come and go as they please (from NSW).

Non-citizens/PRs are not allowed entry at this point (so this affects international tourism, skilled migrants and uni students mainly).

Nope. Just not open for tourists. Fine with me.
Yeah there's a lot of poor reporting going around today. The Oz is not clear at all what has been agreed, saying that it's not open for tourism... which is incorrect if you're an intending AU citizen/PR tourist...

Yeah, but until NZ sort out their approach to arrivals there won't be too many departures.

Even when there was just a one-way trans-Tasman bubble from October 2020 until April 2021, QF, JQ & NZ all had a few flights per week. Obviously nowhere near the usual volume, but enough for people to get home.

There have been zero seats available on flights from anywhere in NZ to Australia for the past two months.

Skilled Migration / International Wage Slaves Students likely to follow early in new year.

Not so great news for many in the Tech Industry :)

If Dom has his way, he probably gets rid of the curfew and allow planes to land at 00:01. :D
