Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

This evening I went to Histopath at BNE for my pre flight PCR test (flying on Friday). There was a 7pm and 11pm flight scheduled so I went at 6pm as the 7pms were already done and the 11pms weren't there yet. It worked out really well, not a soul about. Had pre-registered, went straight in. Result in 40 mins. They printed me 2 certificates, 1 for each passport. Staff were very friendly. People started arriving for their tests while I was waiting but no queue, maybe there would've been a bit later. The airport was like something out of a zombie movie, so strange.
My flight, leaving in 50 hours was already showing on the departures board! Still have another day of work to go yet!View attachment 267681View attachment 267682
Thanks for sharing.

So now you have done your test you’re free to move about in the community, go clubbing in the valley if so desired.

I was actually nervous about the test as I work in the Valley and there's been lots of contact tracing sites there over the last week or 2.
Been driving in instead of the train, not eating out for lunch and not having after work drinks.

Enjoy
It is a bit like when you luck having a whole cinema to yourself during the day for a midweek movie.. never had a whole airport but must be lovely sans crowds (not the reason why it’s like this 🥲).

Logical, but just curious will they ask for proof of international departure for outbound? Some people on other parts of the internet were suggesting that people needing domestic PCR tests may be trying to use the service if they are running out of time for free testing results to come through...
I think that’s the very reason for this change.

They seem to have moved on from that, unlike our friends in NSW.
I have re-read this several times and still not sure what it means. SIN and HKG are very difficult transfer locations at the moment, and for visits HKG sends people to Penny Bay, and SIN is stopping vaccinated travel lanes. What have your friends in NSW done?

According to Welcome to Histopath - Home of Rapid PCR Testing, emphasis mine.
Due to unprecedented demand, our express pre-departure testing at Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne International airports are now only available on the day of departure. Passengers must show evidence of flight details in order to be accepted for testing.
Please arrive at least 4 or 5 hours prior to check in time.

Please note that testing for Domestic Passengers is not available at any of our Airport facilities.
