My own speculation - they are pulling out because they need to bolster PCR capacity elsewhere???FYI Brisbane airport testing:

Just imagine if you were not a Queenslander. I assume they escort you to Coolangatta and push you over the border to find your own hospital. If you do not have a Brisbane residential address and test positive, you may be required to be admitted to a Queensland hospital to await assessment.

It seems the world has changed back to avoiding connections at all costs. Obviously not possible for longhaul.I am not a Queenslander but had a grand plan to get a connecting flight from BNE to catch my flight out of SYD.
Now I‘m screwed. I’m going to have to catch an early morning flight to Sydney and use Histopath there. Also means I won’t be able to check through to LAX so will have to recheck bags.
Sorry about Qld. I am completely over all this idiocy. Nothing surprises me any more.Notice this message on their website against the brisbane location - it wasn’t there a few days ago and there’s no similar message on Sydney or Melbourne.
In order to be eligible for this test, you must have a mode of transport arranged should your test come back positive.
If not, you will be required to await QAS transport which can take upwards of 5 hours.

I wonder if positive tests have caused them too much grief and this is a protest move.
So...
It looks like my teenage daughter has covid in QLD. If PCR confirms it she will have to isolate for 7 days along with my husband and other kids in the house, and meanwhile I will have to quarantine for 14 days from when I arrive on Saturday, in our 'granny flat'.
Anyone know if QLD Health would have an issue with the address of a covid positive and a international arrival in granny flat being the same? Should we expect a visit, or are they too overwhelmed?
Ffs, it never gets any easier
Saw a story today from QLD where some people self isolated for the 6 days it took for results to come back only for the results to get lost or returned a errorQLD Health are a gigantic mess. A mate tested positive last week in Brisbane and didn’t get any contact whatsoever until day 7 (which according to the new rules is the day you can walk out for a local infection).
He was therefore out and about in Brisbane when they called. They said glad you are feeling better and that was it….

I wouldn't worry too much if flying out in Feb or March, I think a lot of this chaos will have been sorted by then.We don't fly out for another two months, and got mildly excited when we read that the UK might scrap departure tests, and just test on arrival. Would not want to be chasing a test if the Histopath closure is repeated at Sydney. And my back of the local Clinical Labs has apparently stopped doing the international certification. What a mess it is becoming for those trying to fly OS.
They'll be lateral about it. If you can't sort the testing chaos, then simply stop the flights. Then there is no issue.I wouldn't worry too much if flying out in Feb or March, I think a lot of this chaos will have been sorted by then.
As long as the granny flat is separate, ie own bedroom, bathroom and kitchenette facilities, they count it as separate dwellings for the purposes of isolation. You should be fineSo...

No real surprise but Novak Djokovic received his vaccination exemption and is on his way to Australia
