Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

The rules differ from state to state, I think. In VIC the day 5-7 test is also RAT at home. If you test negative you only have to quarantine at home until you’ve got the result from the day 1 test. There are 5 in the pack which should be more than enough for two tests. I already have plans to take a third before I attend a large gathering later in January.

Have to avoid certain high risk settings for the first 8 days (with limited obvious exceptions) such as schools, hospitals etc.
SA has gone full monty then. Just have to take a PCR on arrival (but they are closing the airport one now) and isolate until that is done and likewise avoid high risk places.

Noting that is under 5s only. 5-11s can now get jabbed and a responsible parent would have booked them in already.
Not started until 10th in SA and that won’t assist the two year old grandson anyway.

What was the arrival procedure like and any mention of future tests or you are all good to go now?
Has Victoria got rid of the day 5-7 test?
In QLD they will not allow non quarantined international travel till 90% vaccinated yet today they are saying we may never reach 90% so what happens then ?

Until demand improves airlines are likely to hub through SYD and MEL anyway.

AP better bring out the cheque book if she wants to entice the airlines back.

SA was the same but they announced it anyway on Jan 1. Still only around 88% for 12+.

I hope Anna watched the gymnastics closely on her Japanese jaunt as she is going to need to perform a almighty backflip
That would really be worth watching.

Personally I think this will reach it as soon as hospitalisation numbers start to rise which seems inevitable to me.

We have to continue to quarantine for 2 weeks.

I'm arriving back to QLD from UK via Sydney on 8 Jan. Although I will be neg i will have to home quarantine for 2 weeks and do day 1 and 12 PCR test.
Fully vaccinated and boosted.

Current positives have to isolate for 7 days.

Makes no sense at all.
If I catch covid in the community when I go out for my day 1 PCR does that mean I only have to isolate for 7 days instead of 14??

I have a feeling this will change soon, just hope it's in the next week 🤞

Quadruple the size of Wellcamp Prison?
What’s the current arrivals situation in QLD like now?
All International arrivals do home quarantine for 2 weeks even if coming through another state. Is there any quarantine free options in QLD currently?

No, no option for quarantine free currently. Still 14 days. Although a positive in the community only has to isolate for 7 days.

Oddly, availability appears to have opened up on EK and QR at least. Possibly the halved inbound travel caps have been reversed. And that would possibly be because they were aware that there were much larger numbers flying out and returning via SYD etc. Either spending 14 days down south or just lying. Pure speculation this, no idea why but a nice thing to see.

So even though Singapore, Japan etc are considered safe travel zones for the Feds and can arrive quarantine free to other states they can’t into QLD?

Edit: Just had a look on the QLD website and it appears only NZ South Island is exempt from any quarantine

Are there any flights out of CHC/ZQN anyway?

Why aren’t they listing Westralia as a safe origin country? Backpacker problems?

I don’t know the flight situation from NZ to AU currently. I do know that Air NZ has stopped food and beverage on their flights as a way to stop people removing masks but they can ask for a cup of water inflight 🤣

Perhaps they can issue straws.
