Priority boarding on QF domestic - what is the story?

... or was it simply a case of lip service all along?
PB has supposedly has been around since the days of AN and the two airline system - I reckon it was simply a lack of competition on this aspect since then that had it devolving to 'lip service'.

Now there is competition!

I agree. But it took a few of us that said deliver the service or remove the benefit BEFORE anything happened, he says nothing that still nothing has happened. Just waiting for the QF PR announcing that QF are delivering a new and exciting benefit for their J and WP Paxs. Priority Boarding via a dedicated lane. And Pigs will Fly.

On Friday flying domestic to SYD then to NAN.

Will see if it is happening on flights from BNE

Well i have a 5.30pm flight tonight so i will be sure to keep an ear out for it!

As a result I am asking for my own lane completely as well ;)

Isn't SYD-NAN an international flight where this benefit is already provided?

Can you snap a photo of it? ... We can discuss it tonight at BNE drinks. I'm sure Virgin will get some ammusement out of Qantas magicley implementing PB gates.

If it is a NAN run then the flights will be something like:

MEL-SYD - no PB trial
SYD-NAN - INt'l thus PB in place
NAN-SYD - God only knows in NAN
SYD-MEL - OK so this might be where the expectation of the PB trial is?

Yes SYD to NAN is International but the flight from BNE to SYD is domestic...

No idea why i even mentioned NAN...

Sorry...

oops

You wont see any sign of the PB trial at BNE as the trials are only in SYD.

No probs..

I am flying back from Syd next week so will see how it works then.

Simo, have an ear out like congee did on both your walks through the SYD terminal. You may just see the set up and/or hear the boarding announcement.

I think this was what you were trying to say you would do...

Thanks for the update - I have flights next week to MEL so it will be interesting to see if the trial is continued and if I am part of it. I wonder if one of the QF will see my BP and join the dots "Good Morning mr Simon Grxx_xx_ - waitaminute aren't you that whinger about priority boarding???"

Ive always said being famous is like having alzheimers. Everyone knows you, but you have no clue who they are!

Ok gate 4 is the trial. Just had a chat to the guy running it and asked if I liked the idea..

The normal boarding is on the other side..

Here's a pic

thanks for posting the photo. I took a terrible one that really didn't help explain the process so I didn't share.

okay, so I'll post it anyways. You can see where the economy sign is further down. nlagalle pic above shows that QF seem to be trying different signage positions.

Good choice Gate 4 - it's the one closest to the QP/JQ main escalators.

Re: Priority boarding on QF domestic - what is the story? {Saw the trial in SYD)

Definitely. Great to see.

Now I don't want to sound like a wet blanket or (more of) a whinger (!) but the question still remains: how did QF envisage priority boarding operating in reality when the benefit was first listed for Platinum, or was it simply a case of lip service all along?
That's something we will never know.

.. and no point in taking bets as we would all bet the same way.

It's also the only gate that has that convenient partition wall as far as I remember - I wonder how well it will work without that.
