Priority boarding on QF domestic - what is the story?

I don't think it's too much to ask for the pax to have the most up to date card with them to present as they can't expect the F/A to be a mind reader & realise that they're actually WP & entitled to use the PB lane but are still showing their SG card otherwise they'd have to expect to use the general boarding lane.
Also. I agree with this. It's the passengers responsibility to show up with the correct card.

If I were to redo the priority boarding lane signage I would actually just have the appropriate cards & oneworld icons pictured on them (large). As well as "business" of course.

Nope the bar code is the same on the cards - I have used my 2011 card to board after it had expired.

If this is the case the card will be invalid won't it? Due to the expiry date having passed? Does the scanning equipment at the gate check this?

AFAIK it would still work as the freq flyer number is the same as I don't think the expiry date comes into it. Guess we need an AFF guinea pig to suss this one out.

Edit: I see simongr has already done this.

The whole priority boarding thing works. Maybe this thread should be given a rest an let needed bandwidth be used ;)

I have also on multiple occasions accessed the DOM J lounge using my expired card...

I stand by the theory that any time access does really still exist. I have not presented a BP to get into the lounge since I started using the Q card as a BP.

Same for me, I have just flashed my WP card and walked in.

I was stopped by a very officious Lounge person at the Perth Dom QP, insisting on scanning my card. She was assisting another passenger at the time and stopped me from 'flashing' my card and going in and asked me to wait until she had scanned it.
The time was 05.40 or thereabouts and I didn't imagine there would be too many people trying to bludge their way into the PER QP

Same here, although I probably fly QF domestic less than 10 times a year now due to company contract with DJ (which I'm quite happy with for the record).

Maybe it's because you weren't wearing hi-viz and you didn't look like you should have been there! ;)

Sorry if this has been said a thousand times, but i scrolled through about 10 pages and couldnt find it.

I just made WP , YAY :D lol. I usually travel with one friend anywhere i go on the same booking, does this mean me and my guest can use the priority boarding lane?

Also, whats the story with the premium security lane? How many guests can you walk through with you?

Congrats on getting WP. Yes your guest can use the lane with you

I've taken 2 guests through before and it was no problem - 2 guests is what platinum can have

At MEL it's never policed; anyone can use it. Once I saw a whole class of primary school children go and use it :o

It is policed some times. But only seems to be at the very busiest times. For instance on Fridays it seems to be enforced from 5-6pm only.

The crazy thing is that the premium security lane at MEL used to be on the other side. Then they moved it to the Jetstar side middle last year. So what happens is that Jetstar passengers will go straight to the premium security lane as it is the closest one. This often means the ordinary security lanes are faster than the premium lane.

I've been stopped and scanned, and had the policy enforced when the LD didn't see that I had a same day flight.

So I disagree with your theory, and posit simply that some LDs in high-WP ports simply can't be bothered.

You can also add PER to the list too. Often the non-security lanes are faster than the J/WP lane.

This is why I am enjoying the strictness of VA currently, a nice change and feeling the love. Been 6 months since I have stepped aboard a QF flight.

I guess my experience is different to yours; most of the time I arrive at MEL is on a Friday just before 6pm - do not ever remember a QF staff member checking BPs/Q cards there. Oh well, like it has been said - the normal security lanes are often shorter.
