Qantas A380 reliability issues creeping up again?

Probably not, but then again, QF flights to China now gets routed through HKG following removing PVG flights so maybe they'll have more traffic?
That's true - I'm going to be going to take QF to HKG then Cathay to Shanghai.

going on a380 in November to paris on ba. via london on the a380 qf praying for no delays.

praying for delays on way back for an extended holiday LOL. Will have a few days to get back in time for work. lol.

Delay on the way back = $$$ from eu261 uk261, ultra long haul 4h could mean 600e a nice budget to shop at the airport :)

Maybe they'll try negotiating again with Japan and HND.
It was QF's desire to keep the aircraft parked at HND all day that was the problem.
For A380 use, HND requires night slot use and only one on the ground at a time. With QF keeping the aircraft parked all day on the prior schedule, it was there outside of the night slot period.

If QF planned for an A380 to HND to arrive at 2200 and depart around midnight, HND shouldn't have a problem. 2 gates at T3 (107 and 113) have a 3rd jet bridge.

You got me curious so I just took a look on google earth - doing that it is easy to see why they are a bit hesitant about A380's there - not many square inches spare there.

I'm booked on tonight's QF2 operated by OQH which pushed back on time but had to return to the gate for engineers to check on a #3 engine issue before we were eventually requested to disembark. Still waiting for the engineers to run testing on the engine...

QF2 on Tuesday delayed from 19:30 (original scheduled time of departure) to:
23:00 on Tuesday
01:00 on Wednesday
01:30 on Wednesday
00:30 on Thursday
Sitting at ORD Flagship lounge and I just got pinged that my QF12 flight tomorrow (Aug 14 local time) has been cancelled. Likely the onward LAX flight that your delayed QF2 operated.

Time to play the fun game of finding alternate way home. I wonder how much I can push to other airlines since we're definitely in iRROPs timing

Ok solved relatively easily. Agent pushed for DFW but I rerouted via YVR.

Had half a mind to reroute via TYO but feels bad not visiting friends when given the option to.

My son’s flight this afternoon (QF11) syd to lax has been cancelled. He was advised by text less than 2 hours ago, saying they would contact him re a refund or other arrangements (and they still haven’t)
Spent 55 minutes on hold, got through to a useless operator who faffed around.
Meanwhile, we were watching availability on the flight to Honolulu, and the flight from Brisbane just disappear.
She ended up telling him he’d have to pay for premium economy to get on a flight.
Now, waiting for a call back, as the “see what they can do”
The poor kid is devastated. He booked direct with Qantas six months ago

Just keep pushing. DFW YYR as reroute options or at worst a flight tomorrow on QF or AA. And don't wait for them to call you.

Let’s not over-dramatise - he will be rebooked by QF at no extra cost, but probably fly tomorrow.

Qantas is usually better at dealing with these last minute cancellations than it is for cancellations/ticket issues that occur well in advance.

If not keen to wait for rebooking, he may have to HUACA a few times to get the right result.

You can also push for UA / DL. The problem right now is likely that everyone on QF2, QF11 and QF12 (my flight) is calling QF to change alternatives.

If you're already at SYD, perhaps talk to a Customer service agent there to see if they can do it at the airport.

Is LAX his final destination or elsewhere? That makes a big difference in how you'd want to consider rerouting or other options.

In First no less ... QF/QR lounges last night, The Private Room this morning. 🏆
In fact it started with SATS Lounge first (QF arranged for me to use this in the meantime as QF lounges were not yet open) followed by:
QF F
QR
EK
BA
QF J
SQ First class lounge (while waiting for The Private Room to open)
The Private Room

We are at home, as his flight was scheduled for 7 hours from now.
Lax was his final destination, although he was taking a flight to Chicago in a couple of days.
Isn’t it times like these the self service rebook tool is meant to help:
https://servicing.qantas.com/servicing/self-reaccommodation/retrieve
thanks, but when we tried it, it told me that “you shouldn’t have reached this page”

Possibly it’s for flyers with status.
