Qantas apologises to frequent flyers with status extensions, lounge passes, points & more reward seats

I received the a similar email. I hope the double status credits that came with my travel pass is one of the t&cs that remains unchanged.
Yes, I am holding a double status credit travel pass as well. Might have to confirm with Qantas. The extension arrived with perfect timing !

So I haven't been able to spot any new premium cabin awards ex-PER over the last 24 hours. SIN, LHR, LHR via SIN.

Was also hoping to snag something for SYD-YVR in the middle of next year.

I really, really, wish that the Qantas website for finding awards was easier to use. I may end up just putting in a request for some seats with the FF Team. Not something I've done before as I usually just do upgrade requests, but we'll see how it goes. Still feels like Qantas should just make more seats available as classic rewards full stop. They get paid for the points as soon as they go out the door, they really should be accounting for their use with actual airfares better, seeing as that's what they advertise...

Have actually managed to find availability for PER-JNB, and on some flights I saw 4x J seats released!

Yeah, I saw that JNB had released a few. Unfortunately it's the only route I'm not really interested in! ;)

Also looking at FCO in next year's operation window. But nada.

For those who don't speak German, can you post a summary or comment on why this is notable? Google Translate seems to show it's just a summary of the press release with a few comments about recent unreliability.
Just a REPLAY of KWANTASS SPEAK aka KWANTASS PROPOGANDA to keep the decipels entertained and cursiously loyal, so nothing new fuer Sie aka for You. In DE this is called QUATSCH (not QANTAS) aka rubbish aka propaganda. Keeps the plebs of AU and Kwantas satisfied....

I wonder if it will be a choice of the options listed in the article.
I have observed lounges being very busy lately and further extensions will continue to contribute, though it maybe has had its desired effect of making me consider status runs to aim for WP for the first time.
Let's see what comes out tomorrow
Just received my email from AJ.
As a P1, 15,000 points and a status extension is not a bad gift given a) I was unlikely to reach it on my own and b) all flights recently were uneventful (carry on bags only).
I even received one upgrade to Business which is always appreciated and a bad look to send a plane off with empty business class seats. They should always be full.
Tough gig running an airline I feel sorry for those at the coalface dealing with issues often outside of their control, not AJ and the executives who make tough decisions but are more than adequately compensated for a few sleepless nights.
It will return to being an outstanding airline although at present has a long way to go, like many industries that have been through chaos over the past few years.
Patience.

Currently SG but well on my way to WP this year with all the future travel I have booked. I’ve already retained SG through genuine travel since my membership year reset in May so I don’t get/need the Status Support extension for the first half of next year.

Just to rub salt in, email I received from Qantas indicates they will only rollover up to 250 eligible SC’s for me next year, I guess even if I hit WP before May they still won’t give me the 40% eligible for rollover that WP would get after all that loyalty and not getting any extensions anyway. They give all the useful benefits to the masses who aren’t flying much at the moment and giving FA to the people who are actually showing the loyalty and often getting screwed around leading to this PR campaign.

What a joke. Earn Platinum but only get to rollover 250 SC’s. $50 with a couple of J lounge passes which will be useless to me as I’ll already be WP and not need them.

Oh well, No change in status life for me. Already did the booking/travel after Feb 2022 to ensure extension/rollover after 31 Oct 2022 to Oct 2023.

As far as points go, email offering WP 30K just arrived.

Im a February 2023 rollover so just the 15k offer. That said it’s nearly a return trip to Melbourne ....

But now 92% towards lifetime Gold. I’d rather SCs to get there faster

however, the prudent spend of $3,000 back in 2018 DSCs dogleg twice saw WP and been on it ever since. And now happy days it’ll roll onto Feb 2024 which should get me through to LTG.

well, heres the thing, yes they get paid the cash in BUT don’t declare the Revenue as taxable income UNTIL the goods are delivered or flights ACTUALLY Flown. Something like $6 billion sitting on the sidelines during COVID which means a fair likelihood they’ll turn a profit in 2022-23.

the smart move is to encourage points Burning like is being done - I do note on a couple of dates ive checked for my own forward travel, there’s been classic rewards made available !

I'm in exactly the same boat as you and it's frustrating. Like another poster said, a blanket +12 months to your existing status with all SC earned this year is moved to next year for all would be much more fair.

This whole thing is a marketing guise under the cover of an "apology". The $50 credit has to be used for a new booking (no flight is less than $50) so to use the voucher we need to give QF more money. I see this whole thing as a way to stimulate bookings to boost Q4 results for what would be an expected shortfall of bookings due to the sustained negative PR QF have been attracting.

Just received the 30k, non-extension version of the ‘An important update on your status’ email, which states:

STATUS SUPPORT

As you made an eligible booking as part of our last status support initiative, we’ll roll over up to 500 eligible Status Credits that you earn in your current membership year through flying or with our partners on the ground into your next membership year to help you enjoy your benefits for longer.*

Yep I just received the same
Mind you status credit are zero lol

I booked a PE/J tic MEL-LAX-MEL yesterday afternoon (for next month) which is showing in bookings, but no e-ticket or points deducted yet. Anyone else in the same boat or do I need to think about calling?
Just booked 2 x J MEL-LAX-MEL for April 2023 and the points were deducted instantly and a tax invoice/itinerary emailed in around five minutes.

Agreed, it’s all a thinly veiled PR campaign to get bookings up from people thinking they are getting something for the “free” $50.

The only other people really benefiting are the tiered flyers looking for another easy Status Extension and the people who crashed the Qantas website yesterday picking up the newly available rewards seats.

Here's the Jul-Dec and 'already made the flight to extend status' version (30K points edition):

STATUS SUPPORT

As you made an eligible booking as part of our last status support initiative your Platinum Status will be extended until 31 August 2023 so you can enjoy your benefits and privileges for longer.^
Plus, to assist with your future status goals we’ll roll over up to 500 eligible Status Credits, that you earn this membership year through flying or with our partners on the ground into your next membership year.*
