Qantas apologises to frequent flyers with status extensions, lounge passes, points & more reward seats

Did anyone get an email with the $50 voucher in it? I saw the pop up on the frequent flyer app but other than that nothing so who knows where the code is hmm

Even the reward seats help them too, QF points are a liability. Promoting people to use their points gets the liability off their books which also helps their finances.

A slight side note, its "funny" how QF sell the dream of earning QF points for a "free" flight for a getaway somewhere to encourage people to earn points, but they make it virtually impossible to actually spend on a Classic Awards and employ every tactic in the book to divert point spends away from Classic Awards and onto almost anything else. Again this is a marketing stunt to say "look members redeemed x number of seats/ x number of points in 24 hours" to encourage people to aspirationally earn points in the future but once it comes time to spend they will be diverted away to buy another toaster or a points for revenue booking at 100k+ points.
Called 'the time value of money'. Especially crucial to Q who had (has?) negative net tangible assets aka relying on the good will of their financiers (including Australian taxpayers).

Then add in an enhancement or two, increase (Q) fees & taxes and all is well in senior executive bonus land. Must be about time for another increase in the fuel surcharge for QFF award redemptions.

Curious datapoint - German MPs no longer get free 'Lufthansa' lounge access. If they want it then they have to pay the same fee as any pleb.

Soooo un-Australian an idea.

You need to accept the offer in the app. You'll then get the code in the app. (If you've already done this, the promo code is also supposed to be sent at a later time by email.)

I think the app suggested to take a screenshot, or to wait 7 days to get the code via email. From memory.

So, how many of those

"Giveway: 50$ Qantas voucher, PM me if interested"

thread are we going to see in this forum in the coming weeks? Those, and their answer, will reveal the real value of this AJ sorry gift.

I noticed that the $50 voucher has appeared in my QFF activity (no actual voucher number - I cut ‘n pasted that plus screen shot) - but I’m pretty sure the date is the day before it was issued! No email yet and no 30k pts to offset the SYD-SFO/LAX-SYD J award I just booked.

Just wondering if anyone else is still waiting to get the first email. My husband has now had 2 emails about the platinum extension etc, I’m yet to get any notification, and I’m platinum also. I did get an email asking if I wanted international travel insurance, sort of ironic as we are already overseas. Lol. Cheers
+1 still waiting and also my wife has not received her

I think Alan Joyce may hang around for the first Project Sunrise flight then leave. I think shareholders will be understanding that it’s a very challenging environment at the moment.

Agreed, considering he has been talking about project sunrise for the last decade I think he will want to go out on a legacy of "the man who introduced project sunrise". Maybe in 2035 we will see a tribute to him in the safety video.

Also he has a good scape goat right now that all the problems from the airline have "nothing to do with him", "its covid, the customers and everyone else" and it would be detrimental to the airline to do a CEO swap in these turbulent times. - To clarify this isn't my view this is how AJ would be spinning things internally

While it is true that Qantas service since Covid has been terrible, spare a thought about British Airway and perhaps many more. BA has probably outpaced QF in terms of delay, cancellation, etc. There is one striking difference. The regulatory system in Europe is much better than here.

When QF have to pay compensation to passengers for delay, they will plan for a good margin to avoid.

Qantas would not run into so many problems if they did not fire all of their good staffs and casualise ground service. And then there is problem by the airport, but passengers will blame the airline.

As consumers, we need to send a message to the government to better regulate the aviation industry.

That could be due to QF's computer systems running on GMT yet their promos etc. having T&Cs in Sydney/Melbourne time.

Yes, quite possibly! It was well before 10am AEST.

I don't think it's transferrable.
