Qantas apologises to frequent flyers with status extensions, lounge passes, points & more reward seats

Yes, several replies up thread with explanations. It seems 15,000 points if you have not yet renewed status to 2024, and 30,000 points if you already have. The latter is because they have no need of the status extension, we presume.

Not quite. WPs and above with status expiry Jan-June had their status extended into 2024 and offered 15k points.
Those with status expiry of June-Dec had their status extention to 2023 confirmed (without the requirement to book and fly a single flight now), and offered 30k points.

Those with an expiry of Jan-June got a much better deal on status extension that the extra 15k points I got (Sept status expiry) for no actual status extension beyond what had already been offered in prior offers.

My SG Teen has not received an email with an offer of status extension/confirmation. Their status expires in Sept, and they have currently not flown the single flight since March to extend SG to Sept 2023. We are flying this weekend, and that should meet the requirement of the former extension offer.

Has anyone else's minor with status not received an email/offer? I only care about the status bit, not the $50 booking discount.

That is assuming the member was not going to retain WP without the extension.

May expiry : Grateful for the 15,000 points but I will earn enough SC to retain WP

Correct, I didn't comment on members who had earned sufficient SC to retain their status.

Tried to use the $50 voucher on a flight booking via -

  • Business Rewards site,
  • QF website using personal FF login, and
  • QF app

It doesn't work - have to call Contact Centre

Seriously failing QF ...

Replying to yourself is sad I know BUT ...

... after only 15 minutes on hold I got onto an operator at the Contact Centre [that is a win nowadays] ...

... who informed me that there was some problems with their promo code system and that I should expect another email shortly with a corrected code.

While apologetic he seemed to miss the humour when I asked if that would be for $100, the original $50 apology gift and another $50 to apologise for this stuff up ;)

Strong user avatar to post correlation

Was going to give a like but so many others seem appropriate haha, sad, wow, informative & hugs.

It does seem as though QF has a knack of making things difficult.

Mark1966 must have been the first to actually try and use this….. gift

I actually successfully logged onto my app the day it was announced and got the code then.

The instructions were to save a screenshot if you wanted to use immediately but an email would come within 7 days.

As I had three bookings to make that day I took the screenshot and tried, across all those three platforms and for each booking that day to use it - without success.

At that point I put it down to trying to use before the email arrived, which happened yesterday.

SO, I thought I would be fine when I tried to make a fourth booking this morning - but nope, too hard still.

BTW, in other news I'm pretty confident that there will be a DSC promo offered from next week now that I've booked 5 trips this week ...

Lol, correction… a TARGETED DSC promo for you only

Which says -

I think I have it worked out.
July - December gets 30K regardless of whether you will be using the comp this year or not

January-June gets 15K if they haven’t already requalified and therefore will potentially use the comp. 30K if they have requalified and won’t use the comp.

My year ends 31st May 2023
Have 3K Status credits earned since June so get 15K points
If I had another 600 SC and already requalified I’d have gotten 30K points

May be not a DSC but you can bet there won't be a decent fares sale till December as you have to use these promo vouchers by end November. Probably a twelve days of Xmas sale in early December.

You are probably right BUT ...

Half my luck at least this will happen!

I agree with you but it would have been highly unusual to extend your status into 2024 before your 2023 membership year even started.

July anniversaries probably should have been extended but I can see that it would have made it too confusing.

Well I still can't find any Business Class award flights to Europe in April or May 23.
Not too sure many seats were released for those months. I looked carefully for AU->LHR mid april, monday afternoon, after the login issue got fixed, no luck. Ended up booking QR Y. I could get 2J on the return QF2 in May thought. By the look at it, there still some hanging around.

well, I did say when the offer was originally made, that I gave them points for trying, but now will see if they ballsed it up. Well from what you are saying, it looks so they have at least ballsed up in part. You couldn’t write comedy like this if you tried.

Qantas announces another 'enhancement' hot on the heels of the apology...

In fact, Qantas has confirmed it will increase domestic airfares by 10 per cent and international fares 20 per cent and simultaneously reduce flights to about 93 per cent of 2019 levels.

Seems that 100% loading (of passengers, perhaps not baggage) is the goal. Who has booked flights for the next school holidays?

Enhancement to Q senior executives bonus pool that is.

AJ surely is not crazy enough to now cancel flights that only just had additional reward seats made available (& booked) this week?

Sure hope he is not a fan of 'Groundhog Day'!

No real surprises here.

It’s a call to arms to buy now and fly later to lock in a “lower” price. Meanwhile QF, VA and any other airline get our cash. Makes perfect business sense.

@Mark1966's post #744 now has like, wow and haha. He just needs sad and hugs now...

Kudos for uncovering the latest twist in AJ's take on The Comedy of Errors as he attempts to claw back fealty from his subjects.

EDIT - apologies for the misquote of the post no, now fixed. It is a Comedy of Errors after all. I think we all need hugs at this stage.

Cheers Dromio
