Qantas boosts international capacity, wet lease Finnair aircraft

I was going to say, would be nice for them to do at least one daytime departure from SIN to Australia, but then I remembered we do have QF8404 now, that departs SIN for MEL at 10:25am.

Wondering if Finnair's Wifi will be enabled. I assume no.
I mentioned this above.
I’m not hopeful as anything other than the aircraft and crew is branded QF
Very recently flew a BA flight in Euro J, which was operated by Finnair under wet lease. The A320 had WiFi, however it was turned off. I recall a flight attendant explicitly mentioning this to a passenger with reason given that it was a BA flight.

Not one Adelaide international route, not one. I’m sure you’ll howl me down and say not commercial but for all of us who have to go to Sydney and Melbourne and onward, it sucks and thank god for SQ, QR and soon to return CX

I can only suggest lobbying the South Australia Government to dig into their aviation fund (AAIF (state), Reconnecting (state), etc) to stump up the money in partnership with Adelaide Airport to offer to QF to subsidise ADL to SIN (or any other heavy inbound tourism route, e.g AKL)

[dons flameproof suit] On the flipside, connectivity to LHR on QF from ADL is pretty good, even though it is not a "direct" international service. One stop, no backtracking and with connections time of 1:20 outbound and 2:35 inbound, is basically as good as it is from SYD on QF1/2, which has the 2 hr layover in SIN in both directions, and of course immigration formalities to complete in SYD on arrival (which are taken care of during PER layover for ADL bound pax).

Of course this is not speaking to having to spend 3-3.5 hrs on a 737, nor affordability of fares or availability of award seats on the connections to QF9/10

It is not commercial ;) 😂 for Australian airlines because of our cost base as explained by our resident expert here upthread.

Which post is that?

No QF international services from ADL. Who cares? Better and cheaper alternatives right at your door, as you note. Out of HBA, it would be easier for me to fly to MEL to catch international, but I usually choose ADL - even without (to date) an airside lounge

I’d love our government to come up with some plan for NZ but can’t see it happening.
Once QR finishes up later this year we are stuck with the all Y NZ rubbish only

re ADL service - the A321XLR's may actually be just the answer here. I know certain ADL based AFF members would turn their nose up and demand a widebody, but this is the sort of place this aircraft could work for economically - ADL-SIN(a return) or even perhaps to KUL, or some other SEA destination(s) and/or NZ.

Optimistic of the options it creates for PER as well.
