MEL-SYD
1230 Scheduled...

Roast vegie and rosini salad with goats cheese. FA said it was a warm salad which was not the case.

I'm hanging for a warm lunch!

White was a Sav Blanc from Adelaide Hills...didn't see who the maker was.

On HBA-SYD today both lunch options were hot dishes. Either a barramundi red curry with rice or a spanish chicken with tomatoes and olives with polenta and green beans.

The Sauvignon Blanc doing the rounds this week is NOT shaw and smith but it's ok. I've forgotten the label. Wish it was Shaw and Smith as that is a lot nicer.

Hot breakfast on QF 8 BNE-SYD yesterday

Poached eggs, chorizo, spinach and mushrooms. Greek yogurt with berries, muffin.
It was yum and a big contrast to the much maligned "Cafe Breakfast" on the previous flight QF 98. I declined to partake except for the Energizer smoothie.

OOL-SYD J cabin lunch. MOML (Halal meal). An indian spiced fish with some lentils. Best meal I have had on QF ever! Was not expecting a full lunch service on this 737 route.. very impressed! :)

SYD-MEL J cabin. MOML.. Smoked salmon salad.. Other options that I heard were some kind of soup and a cheese box..

The gentleman across the aisle when told the normal options asked the FA what I was having... She asked me if my partner (who was asleep) would have her meal later (she wasn't going to) or if she could offer it to someone else (so the guy ended up eating a special meal)..

Decent for a 1 hour flight overall. Except for the red velvet cake which I don't touch anymore..

That chicken salad is everywhere, speaking to a lady on the flight down to Sydney and she had it both ways to DRW earlier in the week, if your a frequent J passenger thats got to get boring.

HBA-MEL 9:50am departure, 'morning tea' (might have been morning refreshment) :

QF J morning tea.jpg

Potato cakes with egg and bacon salasa. There was another hot choice, can't remember what it was. Yoghurt and berry coulis and also a small pastry.

I guess it doesn't present that great in the pic, but it did look better on the plate and was very nice, especially as I had minimal breakfast.

I was impressed on the selection and actual offering, but without looking a gift horse in the mouth, this is what I don't get:

You get a substantial, multiple choice, hot morning refreshment on a short domestic J leg. Yet in international overnight business, you get a small, coughpy 'Café breakfast'. Obviously the 2 divisions have different catering cost bases and probably different cost cutting imperatives, but ya gotta wonder who's conducting the orchestra.

Flew ADL BNE yesterday over lunch. They ran out of this chicken salad in Row 1 after serving it to three people.......wasn't super impressed with the offer of cheese and biscuits

Sad you didn't get to have it. It was delicious and well balanced between chicken, salad, croutons and dressing. A perfect dish for lunch on board up the front. However the service on both yesterday's and today's flights was very slow so many pax in row 3 had less than 5 minutes to finish the meal

QF740 ADL-SYD 8:05am Breakfast

Pre take off juice or water, no hot towels or newspapers offered.
Meal was the standard offering of sausages & scrambled eggs w spinach and tomato. Asked if I would like freshly cracked pepper.
A fruit bowl consisting of grapes, rockmelon, watermelon and 1 piece of pineapple, croissant, coffee plus a hand grenade of Grant Burge Pinot Noir Chardonay topped off the serving.
The alternative was muesli.
The hot meal was hardly hot, I would describe it as luke warm, the lowest edible temperature.
I did notice an FA take a tomato juice to the main cabin but TJ was not offered in J. When I enquired I was told that there were 2 types of TJ available, plain and spicy. So why is it only available on demand?

ADL-BNE is a 2.5 hour flight....how can it take that long?

I was providing feedback on my flights which was ADL MEL ADL hence a short service window to start with... I think the first pax (1A) was served approximatly half way through the flight
