Qantas Business Class meals & menus

No pic I'm afraid, but had a terrific 'warm sandwich' ADL-SYD the other day. Was a 9:15 flight, so was a little disappointed not to be breakfast. When I heard warm sandwich I feared the worst.

But it was a very nice, fresh (not toasted and greasy) sandwich with pastrami, cheese, pickles, onion relish and hot English mustard on sour dough. Very tasty.

The mustard caught out quite a few of the J pax. So much so that the CSM ordered back from Y some of the food from there (muffins I think). I loved it, but fear the fact that several people couldn't eat it will mean it has a short life (assuming there is feedback).

QF786 BNE-CNS 22/10 19:35 departure

Beef cheeks or chicken salad. I suspect it looks so bad because it got overcooked in the onboard oven.

QF481 PER-MEL 17:10

Food was okay. Had the prawns and pork. Lack of snacks. Bread wasn't warm. Service otherwise good.

I haven't had warm bread in a long time. I don't think they do it anymore - which is a shame.
I saw it a couple of weeks ago out of SYD in the morning. I noticed it when I came out of the toilet that the flight attendant took the loaf out of the oven. Of course sitting in row 3 meant it was not warm by the time it reached me.

This was the menu on QF571 last Wednesday (SYD-PER)...

And this was the menu on QF566 last Friday (PER-SYD). Unfortunately I was in Y so I couldn't capture the dishes themselves. I was particularly jealous of not having chicken parmigiana...

Adelaide to Melbourne - French onion soup and chicken toastie for 12:55pm lunch flight. Very disappointed unfortunately.

I had the chicken parma a couple of weeks ago DRW-MEL. It was absolutely fantastic. As per the menu above, there was little accompanying it, but didn't really matter! Sorry no pic.

MEL-CBR "Dinner".

Knowing full well this was all there was for dinner, I cheekily asked the CSM "Is this all there is for dinner?" Got a profuse apology that this sector was classed as supper. 6:30pm. I decided not to point out that it is advertised as dinner, nor how ridiculous the time and 'meal' was for supper, nor that the pilots got a hot meal...

Tasty enough but yet again shows what a joke this sector in J is. Wine was good and got three refill offers (the last of which was well into descent and I declined as it's a pretty short flight...)

Maybe AJ is wanting to punish those in CBR for 'the thing we are not allowed to talk about' on AFF.

On topic, the J meal provided looks like the offcuts at best or 'bin scrapings' from other meals...

Another QF/Perry masterpiece...

Sorry to ask a dumb question, but on the menu, the cheese dish has a Star next to it... can I order this at any time and in addition to a full meal? Or is this just if you don’t want to eat a meal?

You can ask for it any time. But on the transcontinental flights they bring cheese plates around on a trolley along with whatever else is on the dessert menu once everyone has finished their main courses, so you can certainly have it after having a full meal anyway. I'm pretty sure it's the same plate whether it's a main or afters.

Thanks, Kermatu. So... I can have a full meal, including a sweet dessert, then two hours later ask for a cheese plate if I'm peckish? (I doubt I'll be peckish but you never know)...

You can ask but there'd not be a guarantee there'd be any left once they've been round with the trolley and the crew have (potentially) eaten what meals are left (though the cheese should probably be off limits to staff if it is a *ed item.

To be safe, and only if genuinely still peckish, I'd ask for it to be set aside, or when the trolley comes round ask if you can also have the cheese (but only if there is any left after they have been through the entire cabin!).

Strange they don't offer anytime cheese dish on the flights to Asia.

I doubt they load any extra cheese plates on the transcon flights and simply rely on the fact that very few people actually order an extra plate.

The Asian flights have a 2nd service so I'm not surprised they don't offer anything extra. I'd be disappointed if that's all that was available anyway.
