Qantas Business Class meals & menus

It can take some time for menu change, and given that is last minute and temporary, it is probably not practical to change the menu.

No complaints from me! I’d much prefer lunch than the egg slop. Fish cakes, barra and prawn pasta were all very good. Great flight overall, almost enough to consider switching back to qantas from SQ

QF703 CNS-MEL 1-MAY-22.

Once again the "roast chicken" which I must admit to really liking. The chicken - below the sauce - tasted like old-fashioned chook and I did wonder at how they got that flavour in there given the taste-bud depreciation at altitude. I didn't find the sauce overly salted as others have observed - but then my son-in-law is a chef and I'm now used to restaurant-level salt (and butter).

The big surprise for me was a PDB service albeit just still or sparkling water or orange juice. Oh, and the wonderful CSM went scampering off to find a ginger beer when I asked if that was available in lieu of wine with the meal.

BNE-CNS 15:05 flight. Had the toasted Turkish sandwich with pancetta, cheese and pesto. Pretty tasty. Can’t recall if there was another option but I don’t think so.

Service was fine but nothing out of the ordinary. Couple of packs of the Santos pretzels provided with my last wine top up. Y pax turned back again.

QF1 SYD-LHR May 2022

SYD-DRW: Had the soup to start (no photo), followed by the lamb and then the cheese. Decent enough meal.
DRW-LHR (no photos as my wine consumption meant I forgot): Had the lamb sandwich, croque monsieur and then a breakfast of bacon, scrambled eggs, mushroom and grilled tomato. Again all relatively good.

QF2 LHR-SYD May 2022

LHR-DRW: had the lamb loin (included picture) which was absolutely awful - was effectively eating a leather boot. Cheese that followed was alright as was breakfast which was similar to what I listed above.

DRW-SYD: menu attached, however I didn't eat as I was trying to sleep.

Flew again on the 15:05 BNE-CNS service. Options were croque monsieur or a beetroot, feta and chickpea salad.
Was hungry having not eaten all day, but managed to see the salad was a very small plate. So went with the Sandwich as Maggie the CSM described it. Pretty identical to the one I posted previously so quite good and no pic.

Wine top-ups offered. But the spirit pours for the folk across the aisle were woeful (one miniature used for 4 drinks). When I switched to scotch I asked for a double but still didn’t get the whole miniature. Such a contrast to my VA flight. I made a point of saying I thought it was a bit weak so was given the rest of it. Was offered another before descent to be fair but declined.

Very average flight but on the plus side for the first time in this series of flights my shadow in 1A actually held.

First time flying trans-tasman J since before COVID. Lots of changes. Not sure if just the crew.

1. No post takeoff drink and snack
2. No menu (3 choices given when cart came round)
3. No starter
4. Super slow - economy service was almost finished before J started. Got a single tray with everything on it about 1:30 from AKL on BNE-AKL
5. No water
6. No proactive extra drinks refills

Wow-that's pretty much the service that was offered during the little "travel bubble" window back last year, I went a few times during this time. I halfway understood it back then (though, funny that, fares had rather been higher than during 'normal' times).

However, Qantas, stop using Covid as an excuse when it's clearly not acceptable anymore!

@Fergo747
That was the same menu for my return QF1/2 trip in April. Generally pretty good, but agree that the lamb loin was basically inedible.

I’m doing this in August. Hopefully things improve by then otherwise I’ll be looking at other airlines for my future NZ travel.

This was an excellent offering AKL-BNE last night. For a lasagne, it held together well. And can't beat the Shaw & Smith sav blanc at the moment.
I've had this option on my last few MEL-PER and vv sectors. Having worked my way through the other options, I gave it a go and thought it was not bad. Cheap and cheerful some might say.

I've had relatively bad luck with getting the same menu on my transcons in both directions, sometimes only a couple of days apart. Was the other option a braised pork and a salad?

It was the "lasagne or the lasagne" given the "ongoing challenges associated with catering".

CNS-BNE 9:10 flight. Described as morning refreshment but was actuality lunch. Two choices - barramundi in tomato based sauce, or Asian beef with rice. I went for the Barra.

Nice piece of fish and a very tasty sauce. Beans were crisp and fresh. Good meal.

Damian the excellent CSM described the beef a few different ways (in black bean sauce, pepper sauce, or oyster sauce) so not sure what it was - but it looked good when my fellow Row 1 passengers (all staff travelling) were eventually served it. My FA neighbour in 1F said it was delicious - though she probably couldn’t say anything else!

Service took a little while to start but once it did it was excellent. Wine glass never empty.
