QF25 SYD HND, early July.

Foccacia was lukewarm/cold but still tasty with the pepe saya butter.
Opted for the Snapper over the Japanese set menu - good choice.
Sake and Cookoothama Botrytis Semillon were the perfect nightcaps.
Opted for two desserts because... why not

Breakfast - Buns on the bacon & egg roll were tough like cardboard.
Cathy (FA) noticed my hesitation and promptly offered a crumpet instead (I asked for half a serving)

QF80 NRT MEL, early July

Opted for the Japanese set menu which was quite nice.
Everything tasted fresh, and the chicken was juicy.
Dessert was a denser version of a red bean mochi.
Also grabbed a Yokohama Bashamichi Ice Cream from the dessert trolley, which had a classic asian dairy taste to it. yum. (not picutred)

I think the dessert wine was De Bortoli something?

Both breakfast items were delicious. Preferred the quiche.

QF428 MEL SYD

Left - apple danish
Right - I don't know the dish's name, but it had sundried tomatoes, boccocini, bacon, herbed oven roasted potatoes and a salad base.
This is be the best DOM J meal I've had on QF, bold statement I know.
Finished it all even though I just had an early brekky on QF80 a few hours earlier.

This would be the best DOM J meal I've had on QF, bold statement I know.

QF773 (on a Dreamliner) MEL-PER yesterday. Options were a Caesar salad, Asian cough pork noodles or some beef and rice. I chose the salad. It was quite good, but certainly was not a Caesar salad. Wrong source. Wrong lettuce. Was a smoked chicken which was nice and moist. Best of all, no NP weeds!

Absolutely the best CSM ever on board.
3 choices - pork, beef or chicken. Went the chicken salad.
Was all very tasty too.



Served with a salmon lettucy thing, cheese and choccy



Proving that pouring beer at 30,000 feet is an art

Yeah resembled a milk shake when the FA first poured it. I should have done the Pacific ale but I really wanted a Boags lager.

I think QF uses a lot of their products for this reason

Everything we create has a minimum frozen shelf life of 12 months. Our delicious baked goods are snap frozen, ready for worldwide transport, with no nasty preservatives or changes to texture, colour and flavour.

Is anyone able to answer what the international J chardonay is ATM? I think it was Yearling but not sure of type/vintage. Thanks

Impossible to say. It can change every day as they don't limit any particular brand or bottle to any flight.

Also, is it me or is the service in J overall incredibly slow? I’ve noticed this in both domestic and international. A couple of MEL/SYD I’ve been served nearly around CBR close to descent! Yesterday MEL/BNE I got served 45 min before arrival. Internationally across the ditch I’ve been served halfway the flight.

I agree the service is slow.
Last Saturday Mrs Dmac and I flew CNS-MEL (A330). We were in the air for 1 hour before FA starting moving through cabin to offer meals and drinks. No turbulence, Seatbelt sign was off.
Passenger in 2A approached the FA in the galley just before service began and said loud enough for others to hear "I'm hungry, are meals coming soon".

CBR-MEL Friday night. Heaps of turbulence at the start of the flight. For the ten minutes the seatbelt sign was off the flight attendant faffed around explaining the wine selection and food in painstaking detail to a single passenger, serving the meal and then taking it away again because of more turbulence. Consequently, no one got any catering. Stark contrast to a previous flight on the route where the flight attendants knew it was going to be a short flight with a very limited service window and at least did a quick whip around the cabin to make sure everyone had drinks and snacks.

To Qantas’ credit a bonus 2000 points appeared in my account without prompting, presumably as compensation.

Impressed with that and Qantas actually taking some initiative.

Buffalo mozarella to start



Bannockburn Roast Chicken. I should've ordered one of the curries instead - felt a bit plain without any sauce. Normally I go with a beef fillet and would've chosen one of the curries had I not thought I'd be eating so many during my time in India.



But panna cotta was great.



Second meal - Chettinand chicken curry. Presentation wasn't flash, but it was delicious.



And I again went with panna cotta for dessert. Between the panna cottas, I think the second was better albeit just because I prefer berries to hazelnuts.
