Qantas Cash Card

re: Qantas Cash Card

Are there any other debit cards that allow you to get QFF points on purchases?

Any particular reason why you want to use a debit card? There is a fee free QF AMEX card that earns points and is very easy to obtain (low qualification criteria). If you always pay the bills on time there won't be any interest payments either so just like a debit card except better earn rate!

I've just always done without credit cards and would prefer to keep it that way.

Fair enough.

Missing out on a lot of free points in terms of bonuses though! Even the fee free QF AMEX has 7500 bonus points! I know I wouldn't be able to earn anywhere close to the amount of points I earn with QFF without my CC's.

re: Qantas Cash Card

Currently hurtling through Austria from Vienna to Salzburg on a very quick Railjet train. Am always amazed by the ease of European train travel and how we seem to find the prospect of such a service all too hard.

If the population between Sydney and Perth was the same between as that between Vienna and London we'd have high speed rail too. I've notice when using ICE, &c., that there are a lot more people living in huge numbers of villages, towns and cities and in Europe than there there in Australia. Even the US hasn't got the population density to make high speed rail work.

Rubbish! I never buy that argument for a second. The air corridor between Melbourne and Sydney is one of the busiest in the world. Forget Vienna and London kind of traffic; try London-New York. If a fast train can grab a small fraction of that traffic it'll be financially viable. We simply lack any politician with ba11s, that's the true reason we will not be getting a fast train.

re: Qantas Cash Card

Please stick to the thread topic, which is Qantas cash and not high speed rail.

re: Qantas Cash Card

Everyday Rewards: any debit card with it will wan you points.
$100 spent at Woolworths or BigW gets you 70 QFF points.

re: Qantas Cash Card

Apologies if this has been answered before, but is the Qantas Cash card an Australian issued Mastercard debit card?

Now that I've given up chasing status with Qantas and switched to Best Fare of the Day I'm looking at Tiger and their website says that you can save the $8.50 credit card & service fee if you use an Australian issued Mastercard debit card. So I'm wondering if I can load some $$ onto my Qantas Cash / QFF WP card and use that to pay for the Tiger flight while avoiding the extra fee.

re: Qantas Cash Card

Oh really? I was unaware of this. I'll have to remember to deactivate it after I use up all the remaining funds. Thanks for the info.
You don't need to worry about the inactivity fee at the moment. The fee was removed last month.

re: Qantas Cash Card

Can anyone confirm that the PIN on the card is assigned automatically and you can't change it?

Pin numbers cannot be changed: Frequently Asked Questions | Qantas Cash

Can I change my card PIN?
Unfortunately you cannot change the card PIN.
If you forget your card PIN you can call the Qantas Cash Service Centre on 13 11 31 or +61(2) 9433 2329, if overseas, at any time to receive an automated PIN read back. We’ll identify and verify you before we securely remind you of your card PIN.

You can view your pin on the website

re: Qantas Cash Card

I got the email today about the end of the inactivity fee. If I don't get a bonus offer for over a year I won't have to worry about losing money now on the card.

I was going to be using the card on a regular basis to get discounted Coles Gift cards but they no longer offer these through the new Entertainment book.

re: Qantas Cash Card

was there a legal basis behind the removal of the inactivity fee?

Doubt it, as it was in the T&Cs people agree to upon activation. I'd say it was removed due to complaints, given it's not too long to go until the first time people will get charged the fee.

re: Qantas Cash Card

IMO the take up of QF cash wasn't as good as they expected. Is this good PR by removing one of the initial customers concerns.

I don't know, call me old fashioned or something, but let an airline run an airline, let a pub sell wine and let a bank look after money and don't try to do them all.
