Qantas Delays/Cancellations

Continuing with Tuesday 20, QF19, the 1230 hours SYD-MNL (A333 VH-QPD) was airborne at 1457 with arrival at gate suggested as 2055 hours, 125 minutes late.

'The 10' from PER, and earlier LHR, is predicted to arrive MEL tonight at 1928 hours, 48 minutes behind the timetable.

Yesterday - Wednesday's QF9 (B789 VH-ZNA) having arrived in Perth from Melbourne on time has been delayed 25+ hours with a new departure time for London of 8 p.m. tonight.
This may have had had a flow on impact on yesterday's QF5 (B789 VH-ZNC) which arrived in Perth on time from Sydney, but left for Rome 75 minutes late.

Flow forward seems to be happening all day due to weather in Sydney and possible storms in Brisbane.

I might add the app handles it pretty well - click to see available flights, then click to select the earlier option you want.

Cant see seats until chosen flight but I gave up 4C and managed 13F and then when I moved earlier again I snagged 14D.

Suspect so far the impact hasn’t been as bad as it sometimes can be, but given the recent adverse publicity they’ve opened up early in the day to avoid negative publicity of pax getting stuck and without options late in the day (incl school holiday accommodation demand).

Yesterday - Wednesday's QF9 (B789 VH-ZNA) having arrived in Perth from Melbourne on time has been delayed 25+ hours with a new departure time for London of 8 p.m. tonight.
This flight has been delayed a further 4 hours to at least midnight on Friday 23rd.
I'm not going to speculate on the return QF10, as Qantas Flight Status still shows that flight departing Perth for Melbourne half an hour before it's amended ETA from London.

Wednesday's delayed QF9 (B789 VH-ZNA) finally cleared the gate at 12:32 a.m. & departed Perth at 12:45 a.m.this morning as QF7009, 5 minutes short of 30 hours late. Projected time of arrival in London is 10:00 am Friday, 5 minutes short of 29 hours late.

The estimated times for the London departure of the return QF10 show a 23 hour 35 minute delay, with that delay holding through to arrival in Melbourne at 18:15 on Saturday evening.

The estimated times for the London departure of the return QF10 show a 23 hour 35 minute delay, with that delay holding through to arrival in Melbourne at 18:15 on Saturday evening.
The above timing had the delayed QF10 leaving less than half an hour before the normal QF10 - didn't happen.
Friday's QF10 (B789 VH-ZNG) departed 34 minutes late, then after another 50 minutes, Thursday's QF10 (B789 VH-ZNA) operating as QF7010 departed, overall 5 minutes shy of 26 hours late.
The Perth and Melbourne ETAs for the delayed flight are yet to be updated on Qantas Flight Status - still showing 18:15 for Melbourne arrival on Saturday. Any delay for QF10 in Perth will in turn further delay QF7010.

With Saturday's QF10 (B789 VH-ZND) delayed by just over 7 hours, the QF9 MEL-PER sector today is being operated by A332 VH-EBQ with a 30 minute late departure.
Thus indicating that VH-ZND will turn around in Perth to operate a delayed QF9 PER-LHR sector, currently showing as 55 minutes late.
As in past cases of this Perth B789 turnaround, the PER-MEL sector will be operated by the A332, although all sites are currently still showing this as a B789 service. So no times showing yet on what the additional delay for Melbourne passengers might be.

Sunday's QF63 (B789 VH-ZNI) left Sydney 62 minutes late, with expected arrival time in Jo'burg of 22:11 just 31 minutes late.

Also today, QF11 being operated by B789 VH-ZNJ, left Sydney 64 minutes late, with expected arrival in Los Angeles just 11 minutes late at 22:11 local.

QF58 POM-BNE on Monday was cancelled during taxiing due to a safety system malfunction and rebooked on Wednesday. Put up at The Stanley. New booking shows up in MMB. No updates from QF whatsoever.

Wednesday's QF10 (B789 VH-ZNE) pushed back 47 minutes late at Heathrow and arrived in Perth just 29 minutes late. However today, Thursday's onward sector to Melbourne pushed back 43 minutes late. With a further 26 minute delay before take off, the estimated arrival in Melbourne is 19:39 - 59 minutes late.

Friday sees two QFI flights ex Sydney delayed.

QF11 today being operated by an Airbus (A388 VH-OQB), was 39 minutes late pushing back, and another 30 minutes in the queue to take off, resulting an expected LAX arrival 42 minutes late.

QF63 (B789 VH-ZNC) was 75 minutes late pushing back, and a slightly better 19 minutes in the queue to take off, resulting in an expected Jo'burg arrival 84 minutes late.

QF179 SYD-NLK delayed from 1030 today to 1300 Saturday, due to weather at NLK. Annoying as we were only going until Monday but weather is beyond the airlines control.

Would have been good to get the cancellation just before we walked through the doors of T1, but that’s what happens with weather.

The weekly B789 operated MEL-SYD QF438 (VH-ZNI) was 38 minutes late pushing back in Melbourne. The estimated Sydney arrival delay of 40 minutes is not expected to flow on to the next QFI service operated by this aircraft.

Friday's QF64 JNB - SYD (B789 VH-ZNC) pushed back at 01:17 local this morning, just under 8 hours late. Revised arrival in Sydney is 20:42 this evening.
As a consequence, tonights Sydney-Vancouver QF75 is currently showing a 125 minute delay - now scheduled to depart at 22:30.

The 31 minute delay in departure of QF10 (B789 VH-ZNJ) from London yesterday afternoon, is expected to see a 25 minute delay in Perth arrival this afternoon, and a similar delay in the arrival of the onwards leg in Melbourne this evening. It is currently seen as a short enough delay not to impact on the following QF93 MEL-LAX.

Today's QF11 operated by A388 VH-OQB departed 99 minutes late with an anticipated arrival in Los Angeles 71 minutes late at 7:11 local.

Yesterday's B789 operated QF438 eventually arrived in Sydney only 31 minutes late against the forecast 40 minutes, meanwhile this morning's reciprocal weekly B789 domestic SYD-MEL QF435 (VH-ZNB) was 34 minutes late pushing back at Sydney, and only 18 minutes late on arrival in Melbourne.

Saturday's QF10 (B789 VH-ZNH) from London arrived a few minutes late in Perth this (Sunday) morning, however the onward sector to Melbourne pushed back from the gate 2 hours 16 minutes late. It is anticipated to make up a little time to arrive at 21:49 AEDT.
This will delay today's QF93 MEL-LAX flight, currently only showing a 70 minutes delay, with new departure time of 23:20 AEDT, and an LAX arrival of 19:40 PST (Sunday).

Sunday's QF10 PER-MEL sector made up a little more time than expected, arriving in Melbourne at 21:42 AEDT, 2 hours 2 minutes late. However the 70 minute delay for the next B789 VH-ZNH flight QF93 stretched out to 173 minutes, with Sydney departure at 00:03 AEDT Monday morning.
The estimated LAX arrival is now given at the earlier time of 19:25 PST (Sunday), only 55 minutes late ?
