QF1442 Dash8 CBR-SYD departed CBR and returned to CBR in a short time.

Sounds like an equipment/technical issue. Pax offloaded and replacement aircraft towed from hanger and ready to board again.

Pax on QF1442 connecting to CNS moved to another QF service via BNE
Pax on QF1442 connecting to DPS moved to a different service as well.
Pax on QF1448 moved to QF1442 (replacement aircraft) because of the equipment swap and is going to have significant delays.

I'm sitting here in Wellington waiting for QF164 and it looks like our incoming QF161 has.... diverted to Auckland? huh?

I don't think it's weather/wind related because multiple AirNZ A320s have just landed, but who knows.

Yep, VH-XZG diverted to Auckland (and also still in Auckland). No way QF164 is going to meet its revised 5:50pm (NZT) departure time.

Im sitting here on board QF87 thats 3 hours delayed due to a temperature sensor problem.

I wouldn't have minded the delay, if they didn't load us all up on time and kept us on board this whole time.

I could've been eating S&P Squid this whole time :(

There's a valid point here, actually.
We might sound and seem overprivileged, but why the bloody hell not let pax with status off so they can go back and freshen up in the lounge?
Think of it from a positive marketing perspective for QF: fly lots and lots with us and you can get off and eat and drink to your heart's content while we get your flight sorted.

The issue is they don't know how long it will take; I'm sure if they knew it would be 2.5 hours late they may let people off (though it's always a pain gathering people up again).

But here, and in many situations it's incremental, where initially it was thought to be done within 1 hour, then there are some other incremental adds - and then it's completed very rapidly after the last update, where getting people back with different expectations and impressions will delay things even further.

Yeah, I know - I was being quite deliberately tongue in cheek.
And now I have flashbacks to 2016 when the wife and I were stuck on the tarmac at Bristol airport for five and a half hours because of the hell caused by the French ATC strikes...

At 1150 ACST the FIDS in the ADL QP still shows ‘Gate open’ for QF736, the scheduled 0900 ADL -SYD service.
QF web Flight status page lists the flight as Delayed, estimated 1230.
Flight appears due to be operated by B738 VH-XZD which operated SYD -ADL on schedule earlier this morning.
Some apparent uncertainty on this, as earlier staff advice to other pax was that next available flight to rebook was QF 744 (1815).

Edit: flight boarding called at 1250 👍

Makes you wonder what the standard of cursive writing in Mascot is, when things are this joined up and on point...
