Qantas domestic economy meals

Same deal on a recent SYD-CNS flight, only sustenance was a 40g bag of biscuits. Agree that it's ridiculous for a full service airline.

I was offered these choc lamington biscuits on my last 3 QantasLink flights. Really not a fan - I found them dry and overly sweet.

3 QantasLink flights
Out of interest what QantasLink routes were they? Everyone forgets that QantasLink can mean anything from a "30" minute hop between Mt Isa and Cloncurry through to a 3hr 55min Darwin to Perth service.

In fact I think Qantas also forgets this sometimes with similar "meals" served on flights of varying lengths.

SYD-CFS, CFS-SYD and SYD-CBR.

In fairness, the snack was probably an appropriate size for these flights. I just would have preferred some variety.

Flew MEL-OOL in recent weeks, hot drink and snack on way up. On return trip offered a COLD service, snack and soft drink/water. Several passengers asked for a hot drink and were supplied at the end of the service, just what the hell is going on, no consistency in service levels. Definitely not a full service airline.

Did the return flight depart at/after 12pm? Normally hot drinks are only proactively offered on morning flights.

21 Aug - QF486 - MEL-SYD - Dinner service

The only option was "chicken panini". As a vego did not opt for it. Took a ginger beer & a bottle of water. Snacks was "Soy rice crisps". No Tea/Coffee offered.

When I tried to pre-order a meal in MMB, the website told me that there is no special meal request for this flight :(

ADL CBR at 4.30pm arriving at 6.45pm - 5 Jatz crackers in a plastic tub with 5 tiny slivers of cheese.

CBR MEL at 5pm (and delayed) - 5 Jatz crackers as above.

MEL ADL at 7pm arriving at 8.15pm - a small, tepid chicken pie in a cardboard pocket, with pastry so flaky that despite my best efforts without a plate or cutlery, pastry crumbs went everywhere making a greasy mess all over the tray table, the seat and the floor 🙄

At least there was wine, although I only had some on the MEL ADL sector. Semillon sauvignon blanc, not too bad.

Ooh la la, you got cheese?

Last I flew ADL – MEL (Y), I only got pretzels. No cheese for me.

MEL-DRW 20:15 service.

Y-class is a choice of Chinese noodles with pork or a chicken salad. Beer, wine and hot drinks later all available.

Got the exact same options to Perth & back (both lunch flights) last week. Was pretty happy - also got the rare option of a top up wine. Perth seems to be the only ‘safe’ route. Well certainly compared the cough on the ESB.

Yes pretzels are the 'refreshment' on the shorter flights I think. I was offered them on MEL ADL in Y in April, at lunchtime 🙄 I was surprised to be offered something as substantial as a pie this time.

The cheese was only on the QantasLink sectors, late afternoon ie 'dinner' 😂

MEL-SYD 1pm departure last week - ham & mango chutney sandwich. Overall fine, the bread was surprisingly not stale.

They had the beef pie on BNE-SYD last Saturday week. I like them. I asked for extra one.

DRW-MEL 13:40 service

Y-class is again a choice of Chinese noodles with pork or a chicken salad with brown rice. Beer, wine and hot drinks later all available.

This time I chose the chicken salad:

Not much chicken :). But otherwise quite nice.

QF1950 ADL-DRW
Yogurt and dried fruit or mushroom frittata with chicken sausage. It was actually really nice. Crew described the meal as a snack.
