Qantas extends current status Until at least March 2021

Points Club Plus earns on dollars spent, not flying. They won’t receive a status extension. (Not related to Points Club Plus that is; only if the person also holds relevant QFF status as well.)

Yes that's correct but if Points Club Plus members accrue SCs during a membership year then they can roll over up to 100 of those SCs to the following membership year. If you can't fly you can't roll over SCs without assistance, same as if a Gold or above member cannot fly they cannot requalify their status without assistance. It would not surprise me if QF gives Points Club Plus members half of their 100 SCs as a boost at the commencement of their next membership year in the same way it has given Gold and above half of their SCs needed to requalify. It only seems fair to me.

Can someone please clarify as the more I read articles on this the more I am confused.
it appears to me that QFF members with accounts expiring in 2020 do not get the Status Credit Boost only those expiring in early 2021 and onwards.
I am GOLD and will be Points Club Plus soon.
my membership expires end of December 2020
Can someone explain. I had a number of flights booked, cancelled and credits, might ask for my money back and see what they say.
thanks

Everyone will get the boost but the status credits will be in a new status year. So people that had their anniversary in March through June will have received it. People with a July anniversary will receive it on August 1 in their new year.

Your status will be expiring in 2021 not 2020. This is due to the pre-existing extension from march. These new SCs are from your new SC year (as they're pointless before it renews).

I am hoping to travel interstate from Victoria without needing to quarantine later this year (can't justify taking two weeks off to quarantine), but that's looking less and less likely now. May not even be able to travel interstate even if willing to spend two weeks in quarantine.

Going to make it impossible to requalify without a further status extension if even domestic flights are off the cards for much of the next membership year.

Looking at how it is all going I will keep WP for another year...

I am one of the unlucky ones, I have March 2021 expiry, and have gotten no extension, no ability to use the Gold benefits or fly internationally for my entire membership year, and the ability to fly domestically (which I don't need to do for work, as it is all overseas) is only now coming back. How is this fair to those with a March 2021 expiry? We have had bans for our ENTIRE membership year, and weren't able to use the entire membership for six months, and the last six months we still can't fly overseas. This is crazy. How do we get this changed? We are owed at least six months extension. Other airlines have give TWO years extension, but Qantas can't even give all of us one...

The same applies to anyone currently. No one can fly nor use their benefits. Chances are they will extend another year. You also did get a one year extension, just if you had already qualified nothing happened.
Also note you are owed nothing, status is a benefit not a right.
My advice is take a breath and relax, if they don’t extend it then show your annoyance with your wallet and change airlines

I'm curious as to what people think regarding a possible further status extension, or an additional method that could be executed by QF.

I refer to the earlier post which said that all QFFs haven't been able to take advantage of benefits.

My gold is set to expire 31 JUL 2021.

What are QF expecting?

Whilst I did have an intl booking in June/July that would have seen me retain gold, it was cancelled obviously.

Add in the fact that I live in Melb (hopefully travel to Syd and a holiday in FNQ.)

However, Qf kicked in half to retain and then gave me 15 status credits a month for 2 months = 330.

This is still 270 SC 's and 4 flights. (Or 220 if the Loyalty bonus every 500 points counts..)

With huge uncertainty surrounding intl travel what do people b think will happen in my situation? Are they expecting me me to fly J all over Aus just to retain?

Will they offer an additional extension?

DSC promo?

Would love to know what people are thinking!

If you are Gold, then you have already been gifted 390 Status Credits to help you renew your status. Once the dust settles, I would be pretty sure that Qantas will do a bit more.

I have only been given 330.

IMHO I concur with the comments mentioned previously that QF will continue to extend status (or maybe do DSCs). I think they'll look after us - which sounds wrong considering their other recent announcement - but it's totally reasonable and expected for them not to announce or shore up anything until much further down the track when restrictions are significantly lifted and people start flying again in bigger numbers. I don't think you can or should be expected to confirm specifics or do a huge 'Let's get flying again' campaign until things are clearer.

In the exact same situation and also a WP so even more SCs to retain. They know how important loyalty is especially on the top end (at least in terms of keeping us spending on QF). They'll most likely do something as flyingfan mentioned when people are flying again

As a fellow WP with Mar 21 renewal, and who qualified for this current year by earning SCs not the free extension, I certainly hope you are right.
