Qantas extends status extensions until end June 2023 (previously December 2022)

Anybody not get an email confirming your status extension and/or rollover?
I do not pay to much to this stuff, I took the one flight and status was just rolled over.
Existing 31 July 2023 = no extension.
From the initial email I thought 'happy with this' when the details were published I was not so happy. QF values 15K points as the difference between June and July membership I guess the line has to drawn at some point in time. I would have happily given up 30K points for an extra year as a P1.

I feel like it would be great if Qantas introduced "banked years" like AirNZ has with their Elite Banked Years. AirNZ has been giving their Airpoints Elite customers free banked years in lieu of status extensions over the COVID period, which I think is the most nice way of dealing with this, since those who have already requalified in their own right get an extra year of Elite in their back pocket for use at any time in the future.

The 1st covid banked year was permanent but the next 2 are not. Just as I'm not getting help from qf I'm also not getting help from nz. The reward for continuing to fly (apart from when prevented by lockdowns or closed borders).

So my rollover happened yesterday, coming through at 210 rather than 250 (EOY balance was 260). I assume that the 40 missing are from a bunch of 50 that were re-credited last FY, after the BP status credits from Sept 2021 were credited, cancelled, and then re-credited in Oct 2021. Did anyone experience anything similar? Will certainly try my luck at having them re-credited but would appreciate any points of reference.

As a reference, my rollover for year end came through last night also - the SC's (500) hit my account 24 hours after the 1st Oct;

Assuming no further status extensions you'll then need to have a plan to get 700 SC in the next 12 months if you want to stay at WP.

I think there's a strong chance that QF will do a DSC promo next year that may help, but it's never guaranteed to happen until they do it.

Status credits rolled over from the previous year can't be rolled over again.

With 210 SC rolled over you only need an additional 40 SC to requalify for PS. If you're not going to do the flying to get that (or requalify for Green Tier to get 50SC on the ground), one would question if you really are seeing worthwhile benefit from having PS status.

Was your end of year balance of 260 including 50 rolled forward from the previous years rollover? You probably earned 210 during the year, plus your 50 rollover, equals the 260 year end figure - thus resulting in the rollover of the full amount you earned in the immediately prior year.

250 status credits, from my balance of 270, rolled over on 1 Sep and I've now already re-qualified for Gold (currently 630 SC's).

Just wondering if I should go for Plat with QF or maintain my VA Plat. Can't do both... Might depend on who has DSC promotion.

Understood, though I didn't qualify for any rollover credits into my last membership year. The remaining 210 were from flying and the vaccination bonus.

These specific SCs were awarded in October but backdated to September (and therefore instantly expired). As the T&Cs of that past promotion said they'd credit in 6-8 weeks, I followed it up and QFF manually re-credited them in October. I was hoping they'd therefore roll over to the first year after they were credited (being this new year just started).

This year I'm aiming to retain gold or jump up to WP, but I agree about the value of PS if you're not taking enough flights to earn 40SC! And yes, have just claimed my Green Tier bonus SCs :)

Unfortunately (or fortunate based on perspective), no planning involved as I will l hit those over the next few months with work travel now back in full go mode. It was a fortunate enforced break in flying (for myself) over the past couple years.

How many days does it usually take for the status credits to rollover? My anniversary is 30 September and they are yet to be credited

Mine was the same anniversary and rolled over the full 500 the following day, so you may need to follow up as not all SC are eligible to roll over.

Hmm ok, thanks for that. I should have 200 or so that roll over.

Calling them up seems like the kind of painful task I might put off for a bit...

That would be a nice option to have not only during a pandemic but also in general. I reckon some years folks may be travelling for several thousand status credits, far exceeding the requirements for World Platinum or even Platinum One status. I suppose Qantas would argue that they do already provide that rollover in the sense that you get demoted one level (i.e. Platinum One down to World Platinum) when you fail to reach the requirements to requalify for a given year.

Couple other items that might help:
  • Qantas Green tier status (ideally you earn this at the end of last program year and redeem it this program year so that you can net 100 status credits from redeeming the Green tier bonus twice in a program year)
  • Qantas Loyalty bonus (ideally you earn this at the end of last program year and redeem it this program year so you can earn tons of status credits)
  • Take advantage of QF's effective double status credit promotion: book any nonstop flight with QF/JQ right now and when they have to do a schedule change, accept a connecting flight thereby doubling the status credits earned at no cost.

I had my rollover about 8 weeks after membership year ended. Unless you really need the credits early in your membership year, spare yourself the hassle of calls for the immediate future.

Did anyone had problems with the status credit rollover? My new Qantas year started on 01/11 but I still received no SC rollover until now. I tried emailing Qantas and they haven't got back to me.

One complicating factor is I got the gold status via the status challenge in 2021, is there any chance they might say I am not eligible for the status credit rollover because I got my gold status via meeting the status challenge requirement?

Do you mean the rollover of 40% of eligible status credits that you earned in the previous twelve months? Have you calculated the amount you think should have rolled over correctly? For instance, DSC I don’t think are included. You don’t mention how many SC you earned in 2022.
