Qantas extends status extensions until end June 2023 (previously December 2022)

Just trying to make sure that I've got this assembled correctly in my head -

I'm QFF Gold, annual membership expires April 30 each year, I haven't yet taken any flights in my current membership year.

Am I correct in thinking that if I make a booking and fly then QF will extend my Gold membership from 30 April 2022 until 30 April 2023?

And they will then give me a gift of 300 SC's (50%) for my membership year ended April 30 2024?

Its damn confusing!
You need to book a flight by April 30, for a travel date before June 30.

While you might get a rollover of status credits, for 2022-2023, I don't know where you are getting the gift of 300 Status Credits from.

Cheers oz_mark - good to get this straightened out in my head. The 300 SC's was me thinking that they were giving 50% of the quantity of SC's needed to retain Gold. I guess the main thing now is to get that flight done to requalify for the May 1 2022-April 30 2023 year and by then hopefully I will be doing enough international flying again to get the SC's needed to retain Gold for the next year. Some DSC offers at the right times would be help.

I can't seem to find an answer for my situation, the terms and conditions are a little vague. My membership year ends 31 October. I have just made a booking for February 2022. I understand this means my status will be extended. However, if I cancel this booking after 31 October, will the status extension also be cancelled?

Maybe.. Maybe not.

In the end it still means the vast majority of QF flyers will have lost months in their membership year to qualify - up to 5 or 6 for a July membership date (I am end Aug myself). Now if you're a Dec anniversary you're doing OK, but you'd hope QF would come up with something to help specially with borders still in flux - eg WA maybe never.. QLD mid Dec to Vic/NSW etc, Tas who knows.. SA who knows etc...

NZ (especially AKL) also who knows.

No, it wont be reverted.

In a similar situation... Gold expires October 31st and I have QF flights with Emirates and Qantas for March next year, but still no sign of the status extension... System is telling me I have 4 days to get the 300 status credits and 4 flights to retain... Not planning on cancelling flights, will be very sad if I need to...

There is no need to panic.

As long as the booking was made after November 23rd last year it should be fine.

The extension shows up post the anniversary date (ie: November 1) and you should see it reflected on the digital membership card on the app.

Awesome!! Thanks for the re-assurance!! And that brings up 100 posts!!

Have gone through the last 10 pages, pretty sure I am correct that a "Classic Reward " booking DOES classify as an eligible flight......can someone confirm this.
Booked a Classic reward flight to Tassie 2 weeks ago, this should do it for me, my Gold expiry is 28 Feb.
Thanks

Yes it will, i used a classic reward to extend gold status last year.

Im not prepared to spend any real $ on flights until the other states prove that lockdowns are over. Strictly classic rewards.

Does it matter if I don’t check in?
What is the answer? Since that determines if a one-way or return needs to be bought (points or otherwise). Hoping for a cancellation seems a bit imprecise, especially now that more is opening up.
How long before the question arises about booking, but do we need to actually fly, comes along?

I’m new to Qantas Gold after completing the fast track challenge and was granted gold up until 31 Oct 2022. If I book a QF flight prior to 31 Oct 2021 will the status credits I have earned this year be eligible for the roll over offer? I’ve tried reading through the info on the Qantas website but have been left a bit confused. Thanks.
Hmm, well I booked a QF flight but the status credits didn't roll over. :(

As promised by @RichardMEL Gold renewal came though!! But as expected, and read in roll over notes, lost all my status credits. Guess this will be my last year as Gold before I have to return to purchasing Qantas Club membership with points.

Unexpectedly as the world opened for NSW I managed to book a trip for June a couple of days prior to end of my year
Looks like I have maintained status. It will be handy for booking rewards in late Dec
I already know I won't be flying enough next year to maintain WP 😔
Ah well

Qantas has been sending out emails with "congratulations on retaining your status" about 3 weeks before your anniversary as long as you booked/travelled on a QF/JQ flight before your anniversary.

Speaking of which, I just received this very email this morning 8 days after my anniversary...

I agree with @Carrots KGC is easy and you will most likely need to book as 2 one ways to avoid MCT issue within the QF booking system. MCT will not be an issue as you get off the plane go back through security and you will most likely be back in the boarding area while PAX are still disembarking. These trip do count I put MrsM on the KI flight for this exact purpose. If QF run the offer to cover those with Jul-Dec rollover dates I will taking a trip to KGC.
Flight taken now. Booked as two flights. Almost came to a hot mess when there was engine trouble on way back to Adelaide and this was the only flight of the day. They managed to get clearance to fly when their remaining electrical system checked out fine. Thankyou Matt and carrots.

My status year ends tomorrow, and yesterday I booked a flight from MEL to HBA for March. I had a last minute moment of panic while reading the terms of the status extension offer. The flight I'm on is QF1559, which is operated by QantasLink. The terms say I'm eligible if I book "any Qantas operated flight with a QF flight number". Does this flight count? The PDF with my ticket details says "QF1559 Operated By SUBSIDIARY/FRANCHISE".
