WOW...not sure why the gripes...

Not getting the first $30 is a shame..

But even so for many:

Per year;
Petrol; 1,000 points, 50x20 (from $50 per week).
Groceries: 10,000, 50 x200
Consumer good (DSE, BigW) : 1000

12,000 per year...some less...some more

50 years worth = 600,000 = 4 RTW tickets in Y

Now yes in itself that is a while..but it is still $12 -15,000. More $$$ if you redeem for J.

Less if you are mug reddemer just getting goods or gift cards.

And for most it is not your only QF earn.

My view on points is that every little bit helps....as long as the cost of acquisition stacks up.

I will still save money elsewhere by buying cheaper (ie NQR...) or both (ie my local greengrocer)...but this will be a nice little points boost for when I do use these stores.

Add in some flights, hotel stays, some car hire...and your cc earn and it all adds up to a nice earn for those that Points Run.

Even better when you supercharge it with some bonii and Promos...and for those in the know such as readers of this forum who maximise their burn rates.

And besides.....the more organisation that award points...the more opportunities for potential mistake promos, loopholes and the like to take advantage of. ;)

Using your figures, I'd probably actually make around 1000 points a year from fuel and another 1000 points from groceries. It's not bad, enough to push me over the line I guess, in addition to earning from actually flying, and other areas.

Had I been able to earn on the first $30 too, I might've made an extra 3000 points a year, but that's not going to happen, so no use dwelling on it.

Its a Win-Win :D We all earn extra flyer points, and Woolworths revenue goes skywards - resulting market domination given we all now shop at Woolies. Now the question is, is waiting an extra 5-10 minutes in the shopping queues worth that additional 70 points? ;)

No it's not worth it, shop at coles. :p (it'll do my wesfarmers shares some good )

Personally, woolies is the nearest shop for me and it'd be 220 points a week.

No...

But then I deliberately shop when queues are not likely...

However having points will probably change how I grocery shop.
I will still go to some non-Woolies stores as prices/quality elsewhere are still better for some items.

But presently with Safeways/ Coles I tend to shop several times a week...in fairly equal amounts.

I will most likely swap this to one big shop either weekly or fortnightly-ish...with the others becoming just milk and bread runs plus specials/genuine discounts that easily outweigh the "lost" QF points.

Presently I grab milk and bread...and then another few bags of sundry items. Lots of medium shops if you will...$40-60-ish.

Yeah, for this to benefit me I'm also going to have to alter my habits. I'm very close to a Safeway and do regular shops, often under $30, as and when I need items. Not sure if I can plan well enough, or far enough ahead, to do one 'big' shop every now and then! Time will tell.

Is it wrong that we're almost out of food at my house, but I'm not planning on going grocery shopping (except milk, bread and veges) until the end of the month?

I wonder when you got into that habit ... ;)

Well I was already largely in it as I live very close to a Safeways....so popping ina lot is easy and with kids it suits me to grab braed most days.

However YES the Everday did start me doing it at lunchtime as well as there is also one not far from me at work....and so yes that habit has remained with less frequency. I will grab some fruit etc for lunch...then any daily special.as part of my lunctime break and walk.

"Big" shops would be hassle at lunchtime though.

and on the Everyday Promo...what I earnt then in 5 minutes will now take 4-5 months with this promo!!!

Ok! that sort of sounds good to me.

At present I shop at both coles and safeway, probably more coles,

so If I combine all my purchases into safeway, I currently use my credit card,

so if I say, I make $100 per week in one transaction, I get 70 points from safeway, and then another 100 points from my 1:1 credit card....

almost seems too good to be true...

Please be tru!!

Hmmm, this restriction of on QFF A/C per card is a bit of a trick. The more points in the one account the more options for awards are available. i.e. 3.7K points here and 4.5 K points there is not very useful, 8.2K will get a 1 way trip < 600 miles..

One could think of family transfers to amalgamate them, but one needs 5K point before you can do so and then you cannot transfer for another year.
I can see the situation where my mother's QFF account could have ~6,000 QFF points, my father's QFF account ~1,500 QFF points and my brother's QFF account ~500 QFF points.

In theory I should be able to transfer 6,000 QFF points from my mother's QFF account to my father's QFF account then transfer the 7,500 QFF points to my brother's QFF account and finally transfer the 8,000 QFF points to my QFF account....

... In theory I should be able to transfer ...
... and that will be all (she wrote) until 12 months later.

Yes, such daisy chain transfers work and are almost instantaneous. But given the once per 12 month restriction, best not to do so until the time you need to points.

Yes it will not be the same situation for all but that just about works perfectly for someone in my (family's) situation. I cannot see that I will be in urgent need of ~8,000 QFF points so I will be able to transfer once every 12 months possibly even longer.

Others, including those that do regular transfers between QFF accounts, may need to wait until they have enough QFF points before performing a transfer....
